So my island backup used to save nearly everyday I played since I enabled it. The last day it has saved is October 22nd. I'm on like November 12th. I talked to Nook and he says it's still active, but why hasn't it saved anythin recently? Has it always been like this?

The save data back up always save on real time, so if today is October 22nd, then even if you time travel to another date, it will always be October 22nd or the current real time date. I time travel quite a lot, so that's how I know this.
Oooh that makes sense, I was so worried that if somethin happened to my Switch that weeks of progress wouldn't be saved, I thought it went by last game date played. There was a time in October that my game time and irl time were the same so that's prob why I thought it saved based on game date.
