So, I'm trying to build a bridge in my town, but for SOME reason, every time I go to build it here, Isabelle says "theres already a bridge here, so this is fine, dont you think?" ...

THERE IS NO BRIDGE! WHY CANT I BUILD IT?????Has anyone else ever had this problem? Is it something I can fix, or am I just going to have to live with it and put my bridge elsewhere?

That's really strange. I've never had that happen to me before. Did you have a bridge in that area that you recently demolished?

The only suggestions I can think of are to try logging out and reloading the game or waiting a day to see if she'll allow the placement after some time has passed.

It certainly doesn't make sense from how it looks on the map; there ought to be plenty of room for a bridge. Maybe if you take a picture of the area that you're looking at, and not just the map, someone will be able to see some clue as to what's going on in your game. Though it's possible it's just a weird glitch, there might also be a reason that's fixable.

Have you tried building the bridge from both sides of the river? Maybe the north side is too close to the other bridge or something. The game can be finicky about where you're allowed to build things.

/sorry the title was just too funny 😂
to answer your question I’ve never heard that quote either, I think it might happen if you’re trying to place a bridge from the top?

I had a bridge there when I started this town, but it was slightly off to the left and I wanted to center it with the bridge on the other side of the river. Also yes I've tried to build it from both sides, and ive time skipped around and reset a few times and still, she thinks theres a bridge already there. For now im trying to build the bridge elsewhere first, and then Ill attempt again once the second bridge is built.

Maybe it's because of that little bend in the river at the corner? It is probably complaining that the section of land/river isn't straight. That's my guess at least. Looking at how it comes out a bit before bend up top makes me think that's it, but it wouldn't explain why she thinks there's already a bridge there... 🤔

I thought that might be the case as well but usually she says that there's not enough room if that's the case, the way she phrases it made me think it could be because the other bridge is in the same position, just on the opposite side of the river...but I didn't think there was any restriction like that?

I don't think there is, not unless it was a really narrow bit of land and the bridge borders overlapped with eachother, but that's not the case. 🤔

well, after building all three bridges and trying every configuration I can think of, I have to come to the conclusion that it just doesn't like two bridges that are vertically aligned. Sad, but I guess I'll just have to work out a new layout.
