isabelle has godlike powers in animal crossing. she can:
  • be in infinite places at once - she's always at the town hall in every single town there is
  • erase you and your home entirely from existence in just a few seconds (unless you're the mayor, then your town goes with you)
  • communicate with you somehow before you load up your town, most likely telepathically as you're dreaming
  • control what time and day it is

and maybe those things that don't make sense in animal crossing make sense if isabelle is behind them. for example:
  • trains coming to pick you up whenever you need them to, even though they're scheduled to pass at 3, 21, 35 and 49 minutes past the hour
  • the weather at tortimer island staying summery all year. it makes sense at first, but it doesn't take long at all to get to the island, so it can't be too far from your town, where it does snow in the winter

i'm probably forgetting stuff but my point is the mayor's secretary is a goddess who can control time and the weather and even the very existence of mere mortals

I mean...God spelled backwards is "Dog"...so....maybe that means something??

Oh that's a really interesting thought! I've never thought of it like that before. The only thing it doesn't explain is other NPCs like Luna and Blathers. They're in the same location in every town, and they do some pretty unbelievable stuff too. For example, when you hand Blathers a donation, it immediately gets set up with a full description, even though he hasn't moved at all. Same with Luna. She literally takes your memories and makes a "dream town." That ain't normal.

maybe they are granted their powers by isabelle

Kapp'n...

He just sits in the boat all day.
It's his life.

He chose it.

He just... sits there.

he doesn't see his family anymore. he just sits in the boat, every second of every day, pondering his life decisions. save him

This theory does add on to the theory that Animal Crossing is the afterlife, though. I mean, your mother giving you offerings (her "letters"), the gyroids, and villagers moving being the theory of you "giving them their wings". All with this theory added in.

Woah back up a second...there's a theory that Animal Crossing takes place in the afterlife?

She is a spiteful and mean god who won't let me put anything where I want it *shakes fist, gets stung by bees*

Nah, Isabelle has Nurse Joy syndrome (Pokemon ref btw), she and her cousins just look the same no matter what and they're all named Isabelle and work as town hall secretaries. :P
I mean, when you visit another town, she treats you like an outsider, like she doesn't know you. Could go the same way with every other NPC. :P

it could be an illusion created by the holy goddess. or something.
i don't know this is just a silly thread

When it's raining or snowing and you go to the island, it keeps falling on the boat trip yet suddenly when you arrive it stops.
If it's day on the island and you go on a firefly- or shrimp-catching tour, it suddenly turns night. How could that happen? You weren't there for an entire day.

Yet it takes her a day to pull a freaking yield sign out of the ground.

Well, if this is all true then why would their constantly be people moving in and out of your village all the time?

maybe it's all isabelle's doing. even when the villagers say they want to stay forever, isabelle wills them to desire to move. she gets bored of mortals very easily and even erases you from their memory after a while

Of course, all this goodness doesn't come for free and that's why she doesn't let you build bridges where you want them or put any other PWP where you want it.
