Isabelle and her annoying no sense of space!

So today, I wanted to put another fairy tale streetlamp on the other side of my paths across from my first one and Isabelle is not letting me saying that it's too close to the bridge, where the other one is near the bridge and she didn't have a problem with that. I moved a little and she says this time it's too close to something else (something else being my police station and it wasn't even near the police station and I'd have no problem putting a tree there.)

If I could put a tree in that spot, I SHOULD be able to put a streetlamp there too.

Why are you being such a butt, Isabelle?

I gave up and decided to go ahead and plot my cube PWP in a place that I never thought about, Kinda close to my plaza, south of the main street My first location was too close to the lake...Sure, I'll move up, then she said it was too close to the plaza when the plaza was THREE SPACES AWAY, I move left and she now complains about it being too close to the main street/train station area, I move back to the EXACT SAME SPOT I was at before and she says that it was perfect. Come, on Isabelle!! >.<
 
lol Yeah, sometimes that "exact same spot" is slightly off and is a new block. Just gotta remember the game actually works with grids. Same thing happened to me when I was trying to put this windmill down, it wouldn't let me put it down because of a bridge. I took the bridge down, put the windmill down and then rebuilt it.

Ahh the fact that it works like a grid makes a little more sense, still I just don't get how the grid system works.

On that note, my friend told me that if I wanted to remove my brick bridge to later replace it with a fairy tale bridge, if I have the police station near it, or another PWP or villager house too close, I won't be able to place the new one.... guess I'll just keep my brick bridges then. They seem to work with my paths anyway.

Omg I have the same problem! I'm like 93820193459 blocks away from a building and she's like NOPE TOO CLOSE it's so frustrating because I have no idea how much space everything actually uses up and now all my plans went down the drain >:/
 
Here is a tip on spacing:

For PWPs like lamps, benches, lighthouse etc, there should be at least three empty spaces behind. The deeper (north to south) a PWP is, the further south you should go.

If it takes one vertical space, Isabelle should be at least three spaces away from a house, bridge, or building, two spaces away from another PWP, and one space away from a rock, river, pavement, or cliff. If it takes two vertical spaces, it should be four spaces away from a building, three away from a PWP, and two from a natural spot. If it takes three vertical spaces, then the spacing should be five, four, three. If it takes four vertical spaces, then it's six, five, four.

If you're placing a PWP behind, it should be at least two spaces away from another building or PWP or one from a natural spot. The same is true for width.

When placing a PWP, according to width, here are the spacing requirements for Isabelle:

1 horizontal space: 3 empty from left, 3 empty from right when placed close to bridges. 2 empty from left, 2 empty from right when placed close to object. 1 empty from left, 1 empty from right when placed near natural spot.

2 horizontal spaces: 3L, 4R (bridges); 2L, 3R (objects); 1L, 2R (natural spots)

3 horizontal spaces: 4L, 4R (bridges); 3L, 3R (objects); 2L, 2R (natural spots)

5 horizontal spaces: 5L, 5R (bridges); 4L, 4R (objects); 3L, 3R (natural spots)

If any of this confuses you, the #L means number of empty spaces left of Isabelle when placing the project. #R means number of empty spaces right of Isabelle. Natural spots are rocks, rivers, lakes, and cliffs.
