i do have stuff on the ground but it falls into one of 3 catagories. 1) Stuff by Human houses. This is stuff that i acquired with one human and need to give to someone else. 2) stuff by the campsite. its a few things to use incase i find an animal i really want there. 3) Perfect tree fruit. That means baskets of PF that i haven't had time to get into the locker.

I used to have a serious hoarding problem on AC. I started selling everything that's reorderable, whether it's DLC or not. I have 3 characters in my NL town: Mayor Lainey, Janitor Chris, & Storage Michele. Lainey's house changes a lot so she only keeps what I know I'm going to use daily. Janitor Chris' house has special furniture that can't be reordered or is super hard to get during an event, like the Mush set or the Pave set or the Sloppy set. You're never guaranteed a full set, so I just keep those in his house. He also holds the few male Gracie clothes that I like, & all the extra Sahara walls/floors. Storage Michele holds all the non-reorderable DLC & special items.

I'm starting to go through the storage house & sell off items that I have too many of or just don't need. I only keep 2 of an item for decoration purposes & most of the items are from events that repeat every year. If it's coming back, why keep extra junk that takes up space?

This is a good idea and seems smart! Also, whoever told me about moridb, thank you. I adore you. So far using this, i have cleaned almost a whole corner of my town... and that is saying a LOT!!

My town is an organised mess. There are two beaches. One beach has all the items I want to sell, one has the items I want to keep but don't have enough storage for. I also have three characters. My mayor has an empty storage right now so I can do lots of turnip selling. My second character stores male clothing, space/scifi items, and gems. My third character stores female clothing, fairytale items, and gardening items (shrubs and saplings). The Museum storage rooms are also filled with different things. One is filled with the pics of all villagers that have lived and all the villagers that still live in my town. Another is filled with furniture I like but don't have the room for to display. Another is filled with clothes displayed that I can change my mayor into whenever I feel like I need an outfit change. Another is filled with Nintendo fortune cookie items I like to collect.

TLTR; Every item has its place.

Mine wasn't as bad but I did have a time before I had Gracie Grace that I had too much stuff, so I went through my mail and locker and got rid of all reorderable clothes shoes socks hair pieces and reorderable furniture that wasn't necessary and it helped when I ,are my newer town I was careful and I always check the catalog buy what I don't have and then sell it..I have one town where I actually got all the fossils but am using it to get my other towns there but I had a journal at one point of what was in my characters lockers and museums are messy..but I got better with it I still need to do this with my first ever town but I keep it off the ground so far but my mail enter and lockers need a clean once I passed my house inspection in one town I didn't worry so much about that either I think it's what phase your at but I do keep the dlc and no reorderables I just try to not keep wall and floor and clothes ect that I don't need after a certain point, ores and fossils I sell to retail or campers so that's not so bad there. Flowers are a problem but hopefully I am nearly done only a few villagers left to move and get for dreams then can do flower cleaning and change ordinances so some die off on their own.
