I was talking to Phoebe (an uchi villager) in her house and she asked to trade items. I agreed, we traded the items, and she went into happy/whistling mode. When I next talked to her, her voice was way higher pitched! Not to the point where she sounded like a peppy villager, but noticeably higher than her regular uchi voice. Is this normal?

Absolutely normal! I think the same thing happens when they're sad, but their voices get deeper.

Yeah, it's normal but it seems more noticeable with Uchis which is actually one of the things that weirds me out about them.

Huh, I've never noticed this. I guess I mostly play with the sound pretty low. I love that I'm still learning new things about this game!

That's cool that they added that little detail! It really shows how much effort they put into New Leaf!

Yep, this happens with all personalities. It's adorable. The same thing happens when they're mad or sad. Mad makes them sound all angry and tone deaf/off-pitch(not as high as happy, but still noticeable), and sad gives them a deeper, more softer voice.

Yep! It's normal! Their voices also get lower pitched when they're mad or sad. It's a nice touch and attention to detail!

...I never knew this. Honestly, that's really neat! I keep my volume down pretty low while I'm playing too, so... I'll be sure to turn it up to see about this!

totally normal. I love when they do it, it's so cute!!
