So I've recently just got the hang of hybrid breeding and I have a nice little flower patch which I water every day. It's getting quite sizeable now and I usually get one or two hybrids a day. However, I've noticed that when it rains I rarely get ANY the next day; in fact I don't think I've ever got a hybrid after a rainy day.

Does this happen to you, too? If so, is there any way to get around it/ will using fertilizer help? (I've never used fertilizer but I do have it unlocked)

Yeah; would not watering help?

in that case i have no idea haha, i was going to tell you to water them but if you are then i'm not sure! i've got hybrids on rainy days i'm pretty sure, so the fertiliser is worth a try!

That's just kind of par for the course when it comes to hybrid breeding, in my experience. Basically what happens is that every single flower in your town will be watered and, therefore, have a chance of breeding with neighboring flowers. Since only a few hybrids can grow a day, that chance of breeding is sort of spread throughout all of your flowers, making it less likely that the ones you actually want to breed will actually do so, if that makes any sense.

Fertilizer helps a decent amount, but there will always be some days where you just won't get as many. Continue to water the hybrids you want to breed, though. Besides that, the only thing you can do is arrange your other flowers so that they won't breed, but it's not really worth it, in my opinion. That would take too much time.

Oh I see, that makes perfect sense! I already knew that the more flowers you water the less chance each one of them will breed but this explains the rain thing. Yeah there's no way I'm rearranging all of my other flowers; anyway most of them are in arrangements that would produce good hybrids! Thank you very much for your help :D

When it rains, random flowers throughout your town get watered. This also means it's pretty random which of those watered flowers will reproduce the next day.

On clear days, do you only water the hybrids that you want more of? Because that more or less guarantees you'll get more of them the next day, since they're pretty much the only ones that got watered (depending on how many other flowers your villagers watered).

So, in a nutshell, you have much less control of which flowers get watered during the rain, and thus also less control of which flowers will reproduce. I have no idea if fertilizer would make a difference, though!
