Is there an island theme you love but couldn't pull off?

One of my favourite things about Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming across islands with themes. People are super creative and running around an island with a specific theme is a lot of fun. c: I'm partial to natural islands myself and I have no trouble building them, but there are a lot of other themes I probably couldn't pull off unless I was willing to make an effort. Anything that requires creating fake buildings, for example. I tend to struggle with them, even now that we have castle walls, storefronts and whatnot. I can't come up with good looking fake buildings myself and I'd probably need to look up a guide for that. Same with real life places inspired islands, like Japanese ones. They're absolutely gorgeous and they feel like a lot of fun to build but I'd have to research the culture and architecture a ton before I'd be able to make a decent one.

What about you? Is there an island theme (or several island themes) you love but couldn't pull off? And would you try to create a ___ themed island anyway? c:

Horror lol.

Ive always wanted to make a horror island because there are some really cool ones, and Im a huge horror fan myself. So when I saw a horror island I was in awe and love them. Ive never visited but I always watch tours. Ive never been able to pull it off, but it would be fun to a horror island,

I, in a way have a theme for my main island, which is a fandom mess. Ive got refrences to all sorts of things all over it, and thats kinda taken up the majoroity of my island. It took a really time to make. My second is a japanese one with a twist.

I've seen islands that are divided into a bunch of smaller islands. I kind of want to try it but I'm afraid of messing up the terraforming, or disliking it and having a hard time changing it back to normal.

I saw a gamecube AC themed island a little while ago. It looked so cute! I would love to do something like that on my own Island, but I seriously doubt I could pull it off.

I tried doing kidcore then it somehow turned into fairycore??!! It was still a pretty good island tho :)

Maybe the downtown city islands. I can see it being fun making the shops and restaurant builds but when there's the skyline perspective builds, those would probably drive me crazy. I would definitely have to utilize the green pipe to view the landscape from afar.

The layering and distance would be very annoying for me.

I wanted to do island resort but I couldn’t pull it off. It’s easy to think of ideas but hard to execute them.

I really wanted to do a cottage core themed island, and attempted it, but it turned out terribly. I had green Mums everywhere and it had no real point of view. I only had it for a little while before I tore it down.

(so many ideas!) Outer space, under the sea, Elizabethan England, Route 66, Prehistoric Couture, Broadway, Seven Deadly Sins, Ancient Greece, Medieval, Anime, Edo Japan….

I don't know if it's a theme per se but I don't think I could ever make a more.. maximalist island. I think islands with a lot of stuff (lots of decorations in one area, one tile wide pathways, etc) can look really cool, but the lag is just unbearable!

Something of a space / galaxy theme. It seems complicated though so I rather just make a simple island with the in game paths.

kidcore >.<
What exactly is kidcore meant to be for island-wide things?

I particularly love how people pull off towns with streets and stuff, but I don't know how good I could do with that.

The perspectives are interesting but I'd hate that in my town.

I had a maximalist island once, and by that I mean I put mannequins everywhere in order to force rocks to respawn in my rock garden.

Cottagecore, IMO, just looks really messy. I agree, I can never see the point of view as to what I should be looking at.

My island actually came with a smaller island naturally! It's obviously where my home is!

I couldn't pull off a "City" theme type of island. It got too complicated and I decided not to go with it. I mean despite the fact I have a lot of town items I simply just made it something out of my imagination.

Citycore. But I couldn’t for the life of me create one. It’s just that I don’t have the patience required to plan out an entire island so I just do whatever as I go and that’s not very ideal for citycore. I also am not that creative to do visual illusions and such and I don’t really have that much space for designs since I play one character only.

Definitely citycore. For the past 2 years I've been trying to find a way to make my entrance look more urban and touristy. Unfortunately, I only have about 8 qr code slots free, which I should reserve for TBT events. Most path qr code require a minimum of 9 slots to be available. Aligning houses and buildings are also difficult because I always mess up. Haha.😅

I can't say anything about the "couldn't pull off" part, but I am currently trying to make a TLoZ-themed island, and progressing through the game to get to the point where all of the features needed are accessible is going very slowly, which is especially annoying for someone like me who sporadically plays the game maybe once every couple of weeks for five hours

city core! i love visiting them (omg the biden island was so good LOL) but i just couldnt do it. it would get too boring quickly and im an aesthetic mess so it would go too colourful and natural rlly quick. i do love an overgrown city theme and that would be so cool to do.
