Is there a limit to how many Amiibo cards you can have 'on deck'?

Just wondering if anybody knows if there's a limit to how many amiibo campers you can have ready to move in at one time. Up until this point I know I've had 5 villagers that had already visited twice. Just wondering if having 8 (one of each personality type) would be pushing my luck. I don't want anyone I've already scanned in twice to be 'forgotten' after a certain point, and have to start over.

There is probably a limit code wise but I don't know what that is. If you have the amiibo cards I don't think it matters that much when you move someone in or out because you can wait another few days or just start scanning when you know for sure that you want to start moving them in.
