Is there a factor that determines the kinds of gifts your villagers will give you?

My villagers will not stop giving me sports uniforms. Every single type of sports uniform, in every single color. Is this an incredible coincidence or am I doing something that screams I LOVE SPORTS to them or something lol, I really don't and if there's one thing I would never buy or wear, it's another rugby outfit.

I have two Jocks, but even the non-Jock villagers will constantly gift me sports apparel for some reason.
