Hi! I just bought a copy of City Folk preowned from Gamestop a couple days ago. I've been enjoying playing it but I've noticed that the dialogue of the villagers is insanely repetitive. I'll talk to them 20 times, and I will get no options to choose from. They will just talk, and then I'll start the dialogue and talk to them again, and they will repeat the same statement about 10 times until I give up. I have played 3 days in a row and have never once been given an option to respond to them, ask how they're doing, or even say "Never mind." I'm thinking maybe it's because I just started, but it's starting to seem really strange. I watched a Let's Play video of the game and the villager asked the player a question, and the player was able to respond, which has not happened to me yet.
I've played Wild World and New Leaf and obviously in both games the villagers follow the same dialogue pattern- opening greeting, then you respond to them, then they talk again. Is this not an option in City Folk? Do the animals just talk at you and you can't respond, or is my game glitched?
I just did a little experiment as well. I talked to Becky 10 times. The first time, she said she was sleepy. The second time, she talked about when she was younger. The third time was a continuation of her previous dialogue. The next 7 times, she repeated exactly what she said the third time.
