Is it really possible to get any villager on a new town?

I know this sounds like it should be in the resetting thread, but not really in the sense that I have an extra copy of the game now. I actually started it almost a week ago and have a nice layout and Marina, who is a cool something-I-don't-know-what-she-is creature.

I'm 47 and probably older than most of you here, so I am not familiar with the new terms and the anime stuff. *embarrassed*

Anyway, I really have always loved the Ancient Egypt all my life, and I just found out that there are two Egypt-like characters; Lucky and Ankha.

If I try to reset again and again, is there a chance I would get at least one of them?

I reset a few times to begin with to get a decent village layout and basically kept coming up with lots of mice and elephants. Does each cartridge have a "preferred" species set, or can I really have a shot at one of my Egypt ones?

I'm 49 years old.
I don't reset to get specific villagers, I take what the game gives me, but I would think each game has the ability to get any villager. There are 300+ different villagers you could get. The odds aren't in your favor to get even one of your favorites from reseting.

I'm glad I'm not the only older gamer here. :) Thank you, Rendra. 300 + is a bit much... You are right. I just wondered because the amount of mice and elephants that came up for me almost a dozen times seemed odd. It was probably just chance, tho. Thank you for your quick reply.

Each cartridge does not have a preferred species set, it's really just random. Yes, you can get a shot at one of your Egyptian villagers but it'll take time.

When you start a new town, it will give you 5 villagers, out of these 6 personalities: snooty, peppy, normal, lazy, cranky, jock. However as you can see, there is 1 personality that will be left out from the 6. So lets say your 5 villagers are missing the snooty personality which is what Ankha is. The next new day you play the game, load a new save file. This is really important! You must load a new save file to do this reset trick. So with the new save file, the game will try to give you 1 of the 3 personalities you missing: snooty, smug, and uchi. So on your new character, you run around town to look for the new villager plot, and you basically keep doing this over and over again til you get the villager plot you want.

The way i do it, if I'm looking for ankha, I load the new save file and I see a uchi plot, I go through the house building with the new character and save. Jump 2 days forward and make another new file, if i see a smug plot, I go through the house building and save. Jump 2 days forward and now because the only personality you're missing is snooty~ the game will only load snooty villager plots. At this point, just keep closing and reloading the game with a new file until you find ankha's plot.

I hope this helped a little? Might sound confusing but there are loads of reset threads you can read up on if you want a more clear explanations.

It does sound a bit confusing, but I'll reread and try this out. Since I have an extra game (I'm so lucky!) I'd love to try this out, as well as learn the other tips and tricks to making the most of my town.

I'll be careful and on the lookout for the snooty personality. I had heard of the different types of villagers before but never gave it much thought. Now I realize how crucial it is, not only for a desired villager, but for PWP suggestions.

You have been a huge help, Sholee. Thank you!!! I'll try this out as best I can. Besides, I want a new save file anyway to make another character for the patterns I'll want. :) May as well kill two birds with one stone, as the old saying goes.
