I did quite a bit of landscaping before getting my villagers, just left the bushes and things, but I placed paths and flowers and the odd pwp. It really depends where you are going to plot your villagers. Quite a few of my first villagers plotted in places that I continued to use for my dream villagers so landscaping was a bit easier. Might be a good idea to lay your paths first so that you can get an idea of where you might want to put things in the future. It helped me get organised
I messed up in one of my towns because I allowed the villagers to move wherever the game plopped them down. I REALLY regret that decision. Not only has it make it difficult to landscape but also the haphazardness of the villagers homes makes the town look like crap. If I choose to recreate the town with a new map, I would add paths to most the most frequently visited places then I would carefully select where villagers will live and finally add the landscaping, PWP and paths.
I'm gonna say yes, just because getting new villagers after doing a lot of landscaping just sucks. You can either spend hours, days, weeks plot resetting. Or you can just watch that villager destroy your hard work...
I did the exact opposite and did most of my landscaping before moving all of my dreamies in, and I wish I had moved my dreamies in first. I also wish I would have plot reset a few of my villagers. I let all but two of them move wherever they wanted, and some of my villagers' houses are in weird spots. Tom is really close to my cafe, Nana is right next to my train station, Lolly took the spot I wanted for one of my character houses and Kabuki's also in a weird spot.
If you can wait, I'd say move your dreamies in before you landscape, and collect a bunch of saplings and bush starts in the meantime c: You can also start farming hybrids on your beach.
i would definitely recommend doing so! it gives you more options as to where your villagers can plot, and you have less of the plot resetting frustration
i'd say yes, just so there's no risk of them plotting in a horrible spot and ruining your landscaping. not to mention, if you forget to plot reset, (or if you'd just rather not plot reset at all) you can then landscape based on where they plot.
Yeah I dont really like doing plot resets unless I HAVE to, I prefer having them wherever they choose and working around them :3 so I'll get my dreamies in first then plan around them
I did both, and I recommend waiting.
In my main town it took me 3 years to have final villagers, and I'm still not done landscaping it.
When I got my 2nd town I decided to do no landscaping before having my dreamies. It's much easier, and now that I have all of them, I can have better ideas of what I'm going to do.
I personally think it's better to get your dreamies first. But it's also good to plan ahead a bit to leave space for bigger pwps. That's what I did. However, a downside is that once you're done getting all your dreamies and if you decide to tt to build pwps faster, you have to be very careful or else they will move out without telling you! And if you do plot set your villager houses, I recommend having a lot of patience because I didn't, and even though im okay with the placement, i do feel like it couldve been better.
It's a better idea to get your dreamies first. I always just work around dreamie's houses. It'll probably help you in the long run if you get your dreamies before, so yes.
I usually go for natural placement (let them plop down wherever), but yes, do dreamies first. It keeps you from having to do even more landscaping when the villager plops down on your freaking road after you've built it.
I mean I was able to move it with pepperoni secrets, but STILL. I had to still redo the road.
In my opinion, yes. But that's because I'm not picky about where houses go. XD When I was starting Oldale, I didn't do any landscaping until I had all of my permanent residents and PWP's down. I put the houses pretty much wherever I didn't want something else to go, and then built the town around it. It saved me a lot of tedious resetting to get a house in a very specific spot, ahaha.
Before I put my dreamies in, I determined where I wanted my paths to be. I then spent time collecting my villagers and placing them where I wanted them in accordance to my path. Only after that did I begin building things. I highly recommend this method because you might come to regret the placement of some of your dreamies later on when landscaping.
