I am both an oboist and a clarinetist.
Clarinet was my first instrument, but I had always wanted to pick up the oboe. In every school and in every honor band I had been in (sorry, me being conceited now) I had always taken the principal spot for the clarinet, so I chose to never quit playing.
When I picked up the oboe sophomore year of high school the same thing happened, so I didn't pick one and I practice both every day
I love the woodwinds the most, hence why I chose to first learn to play clarinet, but the oboe and the clarinet take the top spots in terms of being subjectivity, to me, the most fun instruments to play and the prettiest sounding instruments.
