i've learned to really love my town (even though the layout is awful) just by putting pwps down naturally. although, i've heard urbanized towns with paths can really transform it into something completely different. i just really like the real ac feel of having things "loose and natural", i guess. idk, just rambling here.
for me, i kept resetting until i found the map with the plaza in the middle and i ended up with cherries as a town fruit, and maybe not the best villagers, but pretty decent ones. i realize i could've put a bridge where my house is, but i still love my town as is so
i have reset many times over my acnl playtime and now i feel like i really do love my town
i guess the way i did it is i looked at some maps and i know i really love the maps with the plaza in the middle so i went hunting for that and when i got that map i felt happier with that map then any other map i've had because i had to reset like 80 times to get it (ignore my rambling by this point)
ANYWAY if you haven't come too far into the game, i would reset and look up the acnl maps and try and find the map you love the most. it doesn't matter what villagers you get because there's always tbt for that. once you find the map you really love, reset if you haven't come to far into the game is what i would do and then i would keep resetting until i find the map i want. my retail and town hall aren't in the best places but oh well
you'll learn to come to terms with it eventually like i have for the first time with my new town
Personally, I think you have a decent layout Once you start adding in the bridges and some paths, I'm sure you will start to love it! I also like the location of your house, it is close to the beach and the town plaza, which is cool. It's really up to you, however. Just go with what your heart tells you. Let us know what you do, though, whenever you do decide!
You have a really nice town layout! I wish mine was like that... But if you don't like it, then you should reset. Don't just keep it because someone says you have nice building layouts, keep it because that's what YOU want. If you really don't like it, reset NOW, before you get someone you like, or your town gets more developed. But like everyone is saying, once you develop it more, I'm sure you'd love it
Considering you dislike where the beach is, and the river shape, I'd encourage you to reset while you are not too far into your game. Plan out what features you want your map to have, then gather a bit of patience and reset until you get it. It's what I did and it was totally worth it. I'm very happy with my map now.
Personally, I think you should wait a few days before deciding on whether or not to keep it. In my experience, all new towns feel fairly empty and take some getting used to before they start to feel like home. Also keep in mind that even if your friends like the town and don't want you to reset it, at the end of the day it's your town and your choice. There's no harm in resetting a few times to find a town that really speaks to you. Anyways, good luck on whatever you decide to do!
