i really want to reset but i have a town full of dreamies (which can be held i guess) and a whole bunch of other things BUT MY TOWN IS A MESS TBH idk what i even did. i want to start my town all over again and choose a better map but i don't wan to ugh

do you guys ever feel this way?

You could try just destroying the layout of your town from the ground-up. Cut down all the trees, remove all of the paths, and start fresh. It would be time consuming, but unlike resetting you wouldn't need to go through the hassle of getting your villagers held, earning money, and getting new furniture/PWPs.

i felt that way for aaagggessss because i was a dumb jerk when i first started playing and picked the first map i was shown bc i didn't know... you could pick for optimal layout................

but i just revamped my town completely and now i love it!

seconding what ^ said, what helped me a lot was cutting down all my trees, bushes, etc just to see what i really had to work with

Like EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE.

My boyfriend picked a horrible map, made himself mayor, named the town after himself, and hasn't touched the game in months :( I took over and now I have all my dreamies, but omg resetting is so tempting. I feel the same as you!

ah thank you! one of the main problems is that i never knew how to plot reset until i got my last dreamie so my villagers are blocking so many good PWP areas, etc. i will probably do that some time though!

how long did it take you to revamp your town?

i'm actually having my friend help me cut down all my trees and bushes while i destroy all my paths and i'm thinking of demolishing many PWP's because i've just randomly placed them without thought so i made a path for where i'm adding them!

I reset. It took me 3 days to move everything and everyone and pick a new map and move the stuff back. I'm now slowly working to get my dreaming from my other town back to my main one. It was such a pain but I'm SO happy I did it ;; <3 best decision for me!

I don't think I could ever reset my main town. That's why I bought a second copy - to do everything in that town that I wouldn't allow myself to do in my main. But even now, I'm relatively attached to that town too.

I do understand where you're coming from though - I hate my main town's map. I cycled through the options but I picked what I thought was "best" given my limited knowledge at the time. There's so little room for PWP's, it's a struggle to fit them in, but so far I've made it work.

it depends on how long have you been playing?

If you've progressed far into the game ( gotten a lot of your dreamies, bells, pwps, fish/bug/fossils) then I would suggest you stick with your current map and put time & effort in it to pretty it up. It'd be so boring to go through the same process again to reach where you are now, not to mention all the hassle of map resetting...

If you have not played that long, then by all means reset!! I had my first town for a little over 2 weeks and I really hated the map, so even though I had some of my all-time favorite villagers (tia/stitches..) I still went ahead to reset >< turned out it was the best decision I made!!! XD

I'm feeling that right now =n= I have a few unorderables, plus DLCs and some hybrids I don't want to lose, but wow I cannot do anything with my town as it stands.

I reset my first town because I knew that down the road the layout of it was going to drive me insane. If you truly want to reset than I suggest you do it. It's better to do it now than later (depending on how much progress you've made).

I just don't get how anyone could reset. Even with a bad layout the work to start over would be overwhelming. The idea to cut everything down is good. Even demolish PWP's. ??Do you lose museum and shops and all? Sorry if this is OT. Do you really want to give up hard work?

I'm not sure... I think when we (or just me) play for so long, our own maps start to look old and boring. Following the same paths, talking to the same villagers, doing the same routinely stuff every time. If the map is really as bad as you think it is, it might be worth resetting. But the hassle of moving everything (especially money or furniture :0) and trying to get ALL of your villagers back seems VERY time consuming. But if you would like a new start, by all means you should :3 I recently started a temporary cycling file for my friend and I, and looking and roaming a new town is pretty fun I must say. But I can't get to attached because the game will be gone soon ;-; Maybe if you wanted to get a second copy and transfer some items and villagers and what-not, that could be fun too. Good luck with your decision :)

Im planning to reset my game as well, when I first got the game I thought everyone got the same map and everyone got the same villagers. I really dislike my map because the river cuts through in a way that gives me a lot of thin areas and not too much large space which makes it difficult to place things. However I am attached to the fact that my recycle shop is right by the train station and my town hall and tree are right next to each other as well. >_<

yeahh i'm demolishing some of the PWPs that were laid out randomly because for most of them i just placed them in random areas and it didn't work out so well.

What do you mean by "my town is a mess"? What is it you don't like about it? Is it the villager placement, the decoration, are you just bored?

I personally wouldn't reset my village unless I got so bored with it that I wanted the challenge of starting a new one. Unless you want to go through the trouble of restarting, I'd just take advantage of all the things you probably have by now (unlocked features, funds) and try to change things up. Change the paths and trees, make different areas, just make the most of the layout you currently have. That could be a fun challenge and if you don't like it you can always change it again if you get bored with that too.

If you just hate everything about it, though, then go ahead. You should do what's more fun for you, so if you'd rather start fresh you can always do that.

thank you! by "my town is a mess" i meant nothing is organized. i've mindlessly placed everything wherever it was etc

My opinion in resetting exactly plus I could never lose my Dreamies ever

I've been dissatisfied with my town recently until I came across an incredible dream town that has almost the exact same map as mine. It made me realize that it's not my map, it's just how I have things laid out and "decorated". There are so many options and I need to try them out. :)

I guess I can see why you'd want to reset, then. I still wouldn't reset though, if I were you I'd probably just tear things down and decorate things differently. Just make the most of what you have, I guess. If you have empty spaces that make no sense, for example, you could embrace that and turn them into something neat. I personally think that towns that look a bit chaotic, if they're well-decorated, can end up looking really charming.
