Well as you guys probably know I ADORE Pokemon! Ever since I began watching the anime series in the Sinnoh region I have been well and truly hooked! However, now and again I start to feel EXTREMELY embarrassed about it :/. I've always been a geek (I mean, something "Mario related" has lived at the top of my Christmas/Birthday list since I was six!) I recently ordered a Chespin plush online and it came today! I was over the moon ! But also extremely embarrassed :( I tried to stash it out of the way however, when my parents asked what it was and if they could see it I began to get really defensive and embarrassed :( I just tried to end the conversation ASAP which ended up with me looking very weird :/

So what should I do?
I wish I didn't get upset or care about liking Pokemon.... I just do....
If any else feels like this or has some advice it would be much, much appreciated :)
You can PM me or post on this thread
Thank you so much for your help :) It means a lot :)

Best Wishes~

You shouldn't care what others think about you! You should like what you like. If Pokemon makes you happy, then love Pokemon. (:

you really shouldn't be afraid of who you really are ^-^ i actually let my nerdy side show, lol. if it makes you happy then do it. i'm sure you wouldn't be happy being someone you're not. and especially there's nothing wrong with liking pokemon and/or geeky stuff in general. it's yourself, and you should be proud about that :3

Pokemon is one of those general interests, so there is not really a fear of being ridiculed.

I'll go ahead and copy and paste what I posted on a thread similar to this here.

I used to be embarrased about it a lot, but not that much anymore. Saying something like Pokemon or Mario is childish is like saying Facebook, Minecraft, or COD is childish. They're all hobbies, so if you say one is childish, you're basically saying what someone likes to do in general is childish. This is what I like to call Electronical Segregation. Technology is only bad when people use it to separate their selves from each other. What annoys me are people that let popular trends dictate their life, and then when someone talks about something that person doesn't like around them, they and their friends claim its childish without even trying it. If someone has the arrogance to say something is childish then they should at least respect it and keep their opinions to their selves. A really common saying is if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all. Things like this may seem silly, but they're true. I don't think someone was joking when they said people should work together and respect each other's opinions. Sadly there are people in this world with pack mentalities that create fads and drama to try and dictate other people's lives. All you can do is let your own choices and opinions dictate your life, and definitely not change them because some arrogant snob says it's 'childish' before even trying it. And if they do try it and still think it's childish, then they should keep it in their head and change the subject so that both sides can agree on something.

Pokemon is one of the most complex games I've played, up there with Dota and Starcraft.

Don't be embarrassed. The people at GS all play pokemon and they're out of college. Some still in college.

I can relate. I can't say I like Pokemon without sounding like a geeky child. None of my friends are like that really and I'm kinda convinced people think I'm a ******** weirdo anyways.

Yeah I tend to be nerdy too and all my friends know, but they don't really mind. Really, all that counts is that you are a good person and don't try to be something you aren't. :)

I picked up a chespin plushie when I was picking up my copy of Y on release day morning.. and the plushie is hanging beside my TV in my room. I also have a glaceon on the headstand of my bed. I don't let what others think stop me from collecting what I like(which is why my plushie collection is a bit out of hand.. what with the last being count being either at 30, or over 30.)

Note: I'm a guy. I just like collecting plushies because they're awesome. Especially my life-sized Mokona one. (Glaceon is my first one I've ever bought from e-bay though lol)

edit: also my Conker is awesome too. Wish his voice thing in his tummy worked though.

ye im in 7th grade so its like a new generation. i think the most is like xbox and call of duty and gta but thats all i hear. kind of a shame because i would love to play with other people irl but whatever

It's okay to be embarrassed. People get embarrassed over lots of things. But the embarrassment will pass... hopefully? ^^

You should be afraid of who you are, if you love Pokemon then why not?
I'm a Pokemon fan when I was grade 1 and my mom doesn't want me to get addicted to Pokemon or whatever because she thinks my grades will be low but no my grades are fine hahaha. I collect pokemon and stuff you know because I'm a Nintendo fan (pssst I'm addicted to games)

Which reminds me when I was grade 2 I showed my pokemon card so me and my friends were playing and when my classmates asked me for an autograph (I know weird right?) was goofing off the autograph because I'm bored...

Motto: "Gotta catch em' all"
Dreams in future: to become a Pokemon Master
Person who insprie you: Ash XDDDDD
I'm cray cray xD

I used to be really embarrassed about liking pokemon, I was scared that if I told my friends they wouldn't like me as much for being a nerd...
Then one day I decided enough was enough, and I was just going to tell everyone. I did, and rather than losing friends, I actually made more! There aren't many people in my school who like pokemon, so all of the people who do are eager to meet others that do ;)

I love my video games. Since they are a huge part of myself, I can't feel embarrassed about it. Pokemon is an amazing series that appeals to people of ALL ages. The sales don't lie. Just feel comfortable knowing there are millions of people who like Pokemon as much as you do, and maybe you won't feel so embarrassed.
