There's always doubts about using or not paths on the town...
I think that the best you can do is just give it a try. It's a pain in the arse for sure to path up all the town and then realise you don't like it, but maybe you find some QR codes that you love and when they're all placed over the town you just can't feel comfortable after playing a few days. That's an evidence and will help in your decision
You can try and lay down paths to your main buildings and see if you like it. It's not easy finding a path that's perfect for everyone's taste. Maybe that's why you have doubts.

I'm glad that you've found what works best for your town. QRs can be a real pain.
I've seen many lovely towns with clover paths, and based on the similarities I've seen between them, I'm curious - is your town nature/forest themed overall?
So you didn't end up with a QR code path? Did you just stick with the clovers and mushrooms?
Currently I have clovers and mushrooms too, I'd love to try something like North with the stepping stones:
I'd use the codes too, I just find it would be a hassle using them during different hours, weather, seasons, and on dirt.
