So I just bought my first Animal Crossing game, New Leaf, on Christmas and I have been having a lot of fun. But something very awful has happened and I don't know why.

Two of my residents are Mitzi and Broffina. Now, Mitzi has a special way of talking by saying "Mew" after most of her sentences. Mitzi and Broffina also have different music when they talk. But today, when I went to talk to Broffina, SHE was saying Mew and had Mitzi's music. I reloaded the game and while Broffina started to talk normally, when I visited her house, she was talking like Mitzi again.

I'm really worried. Please help!

Villagers can use other villager's catchphrases. It's not a glitch. :)

EDIT: Not sure about the music though.

This isn't a glitch. Mitzi just passed on her catchphrase to Broffina. They talk/are friends = some things will get passed on.

Yeah villagers often steal eachothers catchphrases :)
Rolf in my town currently uses Stinky's

I think it means they're good friends. Villagers talk to each other (if you hurry when you see it, you can walk up to either and press A and join in), and I find that the ones that end with them both walking away singing generally results in one picking up the other's catchphrase. It's pretty charming.

As for the music, well, every villager plays the same music. It's your town tune. They have a slightly different sound to them depending on personality and maybe species. But, it's the same song. If you heard the sound of the song change, that is a little odd. I don't think your game is glitching, though.

The jingle that plays when you talk to someone varies by species, personality, and gender. Though, I don't know why, Kody and Poncho are both jock bears and they don't have the same jingle.

OK, that's a relief. I really liked Mitzi and didn't want to reset the whole game and lose her.

Eventually, Mitzi will ask you to give her a new catchphrase. You can always give her back her original if you like.

I just re-checked and over-reacted. It was the same music.

Yeah, the pitch and tempo will be changed based on personality and species. It will play the same thing without those two aforementioned modifications.
