If you build a "custom design sign" and then change the pattern, is it saved?

So let's say you build a "custom design sign" public works project. And you choose a pattern that you designed, and the sign is built. Then, after the sign is already there, you go into your patterns set and you change the pattern to something else. Does the sign then get changed too (like ground patterns)?
Because I was thinking of making signs for all my villagers but I can't do it unless it allows me to reuse my pattern slots to make new signs.

Cool, I did not know this either. I have a couple of cute QR codes for my sign so I might try and find them again and change it.
