sooo im a bit of a noob when it comes to ACNH. how do you become friends with someone on ACNH from their SW code? i have a bunch of people in my friends list on nintendo but idk how to physically play with them. help DX

So if you already have them in your friends list on the Switch itself (Home menu, top left, click and scroll down to check: this is also where you add the codes if you need that), they should appear in the All list in the Friends app on your Nookphone.
If you go to the dodo airport and ask them to have visitors and choose "friends only", it will open the gates and those friends will be able to come over. If they do the same thing, you can select "I want to visit someone" and their island will appear as an option to visit. The menus are pretty easy to navigate once you know what you're looking for. You can send a (short) message over wifi via the friends app as well, I believe. I was chatting with one of my friends without opening my gates the other night.
There's not really a message system to contact someone on their Switch. You could try PM'ing them in game if they show up on your Friend List. I usually reach out to people on a 3rd Party App like Discord.
Edit: You can message people from your NookPhone in game with the Best Friend App, even if they're not your Best Friend.

No, there is an "app" on your in-game NookPhone, called the "Best Friends" app. You may add people you have added to your Nintendo Switch friends list, and add them as a "best friend" in-game, which allows you to send them short messages via the in-game app.
Possibly? I haven't messed much with that, it might also have the feature, but I literally mean the NookPhone in game. If you select the Friends app inside that phone, and click on someone on your best friends list, it brings up an option to send a message.
