Use Nook tickets to hit rocks on other islands and find other resources and villagers in the process.

What above poster said, buy the nook miles ticket and hit rocks. Make sure you are digging 2 holes behind you when you hit the rocks so you don't get knocked back and you're able to hit the rock 8 times (for 8 items total). You can look up a guide or picture on google if you're confused where to put the holes.
