Yeah, pretty much what the title says. I need to know where to start to make my town as nice and enjoyable as possible.

Well, did you restart to get the layout and fruit and such you liked?
If so, there's not much that can be done at such an early stage. Try to get all the types of fruits, plus your perfect native fruit. Find paths you like if you want paths. I'd say put down PWPs, but that would have to be later since you probably aren't able to yet. Maybe start hybrid breeding.

Well I got Peaches, which is the fruit I wanted, so I'm pretty happy about that. ^~^

Are peaches also your favourite perfect fruit? Or do perfect fruits matter at all to you?
I thought it was worth bringing up, as I restarted to get apples after getting pretty far into the game. I wasn't aware of perfect fruits at first, so I hadn't personally considered those. And perfect apples are irresistible to me.

I got this game the day it released in the USA and my town is still under construction lol, so it wont be an overnight thing
I would say get to know your neighbors, do favors for them. If you find a fruit that looks funny or different than your other fruit don't sell it, plant it! It will sell for more in other towns, great way to make bells Fastest way to make bells is at the island, you'll need to wait a few days for that to unlock, but once you do you can go beetle farming, with a shark here and there which will help you earn a lot of bells. Now that you started friendships with the villagers they will ask you as the mayor to build public works projects and you need bells for that, lots of them! Also start talking the the quiet Able sister(one at the sewing machine). I can't remember how many days it is to talk to her to unlock the qr code reader, but it's a good time to start that so when your ready you can use patterns for paths etc. Welcome to your town and best wishes GL!

Well I haven't come across perfect fruits yet, I'm not if they'll spawn or not. Do I just plant Peaches until I get perfect ones?

They spawn randomly. You'll know they're perfect because they'll be gold instead of pink.
My friends town has peach as his native fruit and I happen to have some would you like some?

Oh sorry I wasn't very clear there I meant perfect peaches. I also can get you the other fruit if you would like them? They just won't be perfact. Oh and you can only grow perfect peaches bc it's your native fruit. So my perfact cherries wouldn't grow, they would only grow a cherries in your town.

It just takes time! just do things little bits here and there, that's what I did and do. Here's some things I did:
1. Draw yourself a rudimentary path tile. It doesn't have to be great, but you'll want to make little roads between places you go the most. This way, it'll be easiest to stay on the same route so your grass only deteriorates along those roads, and you'll have a safe place to run. It can be 1 or 2 tiles wide, or even three in places, if you want a fancy road later! Some people create paths with flowers to keep themselves on track, but then you can't run so well on those, and you have to collect all those flowers! Don't run anywhere except your paths. You can always change the design of the path later, or download some nice tiles when you get the QR machine.
2. start up on hyrbids right away! pick your favorite flowers and grow em! it takes a lot of time so starting early is best. You can also just use standard flowers too! You can get flowers for free on the island by taking tours and picking them up. I really liked roses and cosmos, so I lined my paths with my favorite colors! You can do whatever you want though. line paths, create little gardens, mix and patch colors and patterns.. whatever haha.
3. Make Public Works Projects when you can. Make sure to get one suggested a day by your villagers. They suggest them when they "ping" you. IE, look surprised and run up to you all happy. You can even look online and pick ones you like and try to get them. Use them to embellish areas or be the centerpiece to a garden, or line a street with lamps, etc.
4. Plan ahead!! Got a big swath of land that would be great for a tree-lined road, place some tiles around and work on it day by day! Study how trees and bushes interact with each other and grow so you can avoid dead sprouts and other messups. AMASS BUSHES, BUY THEM EVERY DAY as soon as they are available. You won't regret having a hoard of bushes when you finally have a beautiful garden planned out, but need 15 hydrangeas and 7 sweet olives to do it!
5. If you like how mushrooms look, and you cut down a tree that has a pattern in the stump, leave the stump! Mushrooms sometimes grow around them, all year. You can use them to decorate. If you pull up clovers, four-leaf clovers can be replanted for maximum effect!
