In before everyone tells you to go to the island and catch beetles!
EDIT: Ok, but seriously... Making money is ridiculously easy in this game if you go to the island at night and catch the beetles that hang out on palm trees. There's guides everywhere about how to do it best, so I wont elaborate, but just know it's stupid easy to become a millionaire. You just have to wait a few days to get the island unlocked.
Oh, and I hope you have tons of fun playing Animal Crossing. If you need buddies, I'll consider it.

If you want to sell something at Re-Tail, the suggested amount is 1/4 of the actual price. Don't hesitate to set the price yourself instead of taking the default!
Sharks sell for a lot. Most beetles do too, and both are easier/plentiful on the island.

Beetles & Sharks sell for a lot. The island is a great place to get them. I found between 8pm - 10pm is a 'sweet spot'. Fossils sometimes fetch a few bells too. And ofc the money rock. I get about 6-9000 bells a day from that.

Congrats on getting the game! Your town map looks exactly like mine except my beach is on the left side. XD Since we're practically map twins, I recommend that you add a second bridge right where the river makes the L shape. That was one of my first public works projects and it saved me TONS of time later on.

Making money is so easy on this gamewhat villagers do you have?
BonBon, Tank, Cranston, T-Bone and Jambette. Not the best but more will come and go so they're the least of my worries.

When you get to the island catch all the bugs that spawn on the palm trees on the sand they're worth the most, I usually make just over 300,000 each trip which comes in handy for paying of your home loan or Public Work Projects.

Man, I thought that the layouts you're presented to in the beginning were the only ones you could get. Had I know this, I would have shopped around. Oh well, mine is good enough, I guess.
