Well Painted Turtles live in water so, their main diet is small fish. But like I said they have these cheap things called "Reptile sticks" you can even buy them in wal-mart, and they'll eat them, just drop it in the water like fish food.
i have a turtle called leanardo!!!
they eat shrimp [ull get that at a pet shop]!
you have to keep them in a tank with a heater!
and sometimes they like a tiny piece of fruit [apple] or veg [lettuce]
and put a few rocks in his/her tank so he/she can climb up to take a breath!!

if you got him in the wild maybe he should stay there...
But, turtles eat small fish that you can buy from a petstore, they also sell crickets which turtles eat... Turtles DO eat lettuce, and I most often give my turtle food pellets. Turtles can be REALLY hard to take care of if you don't have the right stuff...
