I find it odd.

Ever wondered why weed is illegal? I mean, as far as health effects cigarettes are way worse considering they're more of chemicals than tobacco. And their legal.

It's just a plant. A natural plant.

We put hydrogenated oils, mono-sodium glutamate and all sorts of dangerous things in the food we eat... but we can't own a certain type of plant?

Hell and you can even get high off of households, paint, paint thinner, gas, rubber cement, alcohol... and those are way more dangerous not to mention legal.

Hell, alcoholic drinks are just as bad/worse.

I'm not a stoner, and for the record I've never tried drugs. I just think it's odd.

I guess it is a little odd, although i wouldn't care since i'd never take that stuff.

In part of the government being a hypocrite by allowing something (alcohol) that makes you stupider but banning something (cannabis) that is natural that also makes you stupid.

But hey, cocaine is also natural. Why can't we have that?

But consider what would happen after you smoke a joint and try to drive/work/school or something?

And I know that alcohol is just as bad, if not worse, than that but still, alcohol has been around for thousands of years, if it was discovered today it would be illegal, and you have to take a large enough amount of alcohol in to start to see its affects...

It could be done, if it was regulated properly, but it'd be too hard to get the guidelines up, enforce them, and still keep society running.

Didnt Amsterdam do a 'trial period' where drugs where legal, and now they have an absolutely massive problem with drugs...

I don't think that weed is made illegal for health reasons, but more for Civil Order reasons. Sure, alcohol and cigarettes are pretty bad for your health, but you need to either: take large doses of it -OR- use it for an extended period of time. As for weed, it would only take a couple hits to get you high. (I don't know for sure seeing as I have never smoked weed before, haha)

You'd be trippin out, but with alcohol you have slurred speech, blurred vision and all that. Not too much of a difference in your performance.

Well you're an idiot if you smoke a joint and go to work. Also Some of my friends have smoke weed and they didn't completly high from a single joint or some puffs.

Also on the subject of alcohol some people are light weights and it doesn't take 12 beers to get drunk.

Cocaine comes from the coca plant, which is completely natural as well. But that's illegal for obvious reasons.

Yeah, but... read the rest of the post...
I did.
Taking either would ensure you being fired 10 minutes into your work.

@MC Lars:
I was mainly referring to the argument that marijuana was natural and therefore should be legal. Cocaine should then be legal too, while it being obviously bad for your health.

True you have a point not all natural things should be legal.

I agree.
Mainly why I frown on the argument of marijuana being natural therefore be legal.

But with all these equal to or worse things in the world being legal why not some grass?

Cocaine is far worse then cigarettes, weed, beer etc. So without if it was natural or not ban it!

I personally see no bigger problem occurring from weed than we already see with alcohol, in fact I am of the opinion that alcohol is often worse if only because at least weed mellows you out, and keeps you from fighting... as opposed to more likely to fight....

The fact is that one became more socially acceptable, but I do think it is extremely hypocritical to ban one and not the other.

I was going to say something about cocaine being 100 times worse, but I guess it was just saying that just cause something is natural doesn't make it ok to ingest... which is true, please don't eat the poison frogs... yeah...

It just occurred to me that what is happening with weed is sort of like Prohibition in the 1920s.
