You have bad luck and tripped. It happens. If you have Katrina you can have your fortune told and get the special items, like "wear socks" or something. Also if you have her shop in the main street you can buy hats from Katrina and that effects your luck. Also Feng Shui and lucky furniture helps too. When you have bad luck, don't hold balloons.

Not through the catalog but through The HRA Showcase. If you street pass someone with balloons in their house you can order them.

This happened to me. I was running with it on a bad luck day and off it flew... I didn't know that could happen so I was shocked and a little sad since I never street pass anyone. -__-

Yeah it happened to me so I don't run with balloons anymore. I just reset my game though and got it back.
