No matter how much work I get done in my town, it feels like I never seem to accomplish anything. I don't know if it is because I am trying to do several things at once (redecorate, catalogue, landscape, etc) or what. It is very frustating though... Does anyone else ever feel like this? :(

I do sometimes. I am trying to landscape but I get tired and bored after a short while where I know some people sit and create their town for hours and time travel etc. I used to when I first got it but it's been like 3 years now and I just get a tad bored if I go on for more than half an hour.

Yes, I feel this way right now because I am doing all of that at once also. But it really is starting to come together finally. I think what has helped is to try focusing on one area at a time, even if it's only 20 minutes in one area. Then once that area/room/whatever is done I feel accomplished with it and move on to the next thing. I am trying so hard to get my town looking decent enough to finally make a dream of it, so there is a lot of work to be done!

My biggest priority right now is cataloguing. I'm trying to get every single item in the game, but it takes forever. My second priority is my mayor's house which I am trying to fix, but again it is taking so long. I'm trying to make it look like my house in real life, or as close as I can to it, but I'm having such a hard time finding the right items. The only rooms I am somewhat satisfied with are my front room and upstairs. Everything else is a mess and it seems like no matter what I order I can't find anything I like or a way to arrange it. It is very frustrating.

I feel that sometimes when I'm decorating my house :( I'm just not 100% invested in it yet.. But when it comes to landscaping, I'm really into it, so I feel as though I can get A LOT done in 30 minutes. Actually almost done landscaping. Just waiting for the last few unwanted houses to leave :)

I've learned to take this game slow and not really worry about achieving everything so quickly. I do get a little frustrated during events (cough* Festivale) when I can't get anything done in terms of mayoral work... but there are some days when I'll just play Puzzle League for 2 hours and that's all lol. I've never had badges or complete catalogues in mind when I play anyways... as long as some day my town looks pretty I'll be happy. I'm the same with @Jaffacakemunchr. I can't spend too long playing or I get burned out.

Same! I bought this game a year or so after it came out and everyone had beautiful towns and I wanted one so I felt like rushing for one. But now I take my time. The paths practically build themselves. :)

Its always good advice to chop up your goals into smaller pieces. For instance, I want to have all items catalogued too, but I set the goal of getting as many items from kicks and mable first, so that I hardly have to check them for new stuff. Kicks is easiest, mable is chopped up again into hats, accessoires, umbrellas, bottoms, dresses and tops.
This way I get like 1-2% of those goals done every day, while that would be like 0.01% of the entire catalogue goal. It feels much better!

Also, if you want to trade items to catalogue, hit me up!

I can decorate my house for hours and get a lot done and love every minute of it. Sadly I'm finished with my house now so I should be landscaping... I procrastinate that by 'bug catching', I tell myself that I should try to catch all the bugs, completing my museum in the process (I have finished the art, fossils and sea creature exhibit).
I put 'bug-catching' between quotation marks because I procrastinate that by going for the gold fishing badge (the quantity one, I've got the other one)...

To make a long story short the only thing I ever get done is my house and every once and a while a new badge. xD

I get what you mean. I try to then remind myself what the point of animal crossing is. It's not about getting stuff done. It's about day to day and building up to things. (I still want all my music boxes made right now though. Sigh.)
When you find yourself wanting to speed up try slowing down.
Also going to mention there was a town a while back that had everything laid out that you could pick up to add to the catalog. :)

No need to rush and try not to do all at the same time or you'll burned out sooner! Focus on one area that you like doing the most. In my case, I do the landscaping everyday or almost every time I play then decorate the rooms once a week. I figured the badges will come naturally so I don't give them much priority. I just make sure that I buy the items from shops everyday for the catalog.

As others have said, try not to rush to finish everything. I do that sometimes and I noticed when I try to do everything at once, I get frustrated because I feel like I am not making much progress with my town. Try doing things one at a time. The game takes time.

A lot of times I feel like this, but when I finally reach my goal I realize that every little change you make, no matter how small, counts. You can just plant one flower, and you have made some progress in redecorating your town. All you need is patientence, dedication, and hard work to get giant tasks done. Just keep doing what you normally do, and make sure you are making progress, and fear not, you will finish soon! :lemon:

Aww I love the way you think and I completely agree. It's all about the journey, the end result is just a bonus. Now hopefully I can stick with this town long enough to see it through. So glad I got a second copy. :)

My biggest problem is that I refuse to time travel because it ruins my favorite aspect about the game: the real-time mechanics. If I time traveled, I know I could get so much more done, but I love my villagers to much to put them at risk and I respect my game too much to do that (and I'm not judging those that do; it's your game, you do what you want!). Lately, I've been trying to get rid of my abundance of fruit trees to get some regular trees grown in time for cherry blossom season. I want my town to look pretty for it. So far, it's pretty tedious, lol.

Can't really seem to get much done either. Usually, I simply talk with villagers, check on Sable and Blathers, and call it a day.
Probably will get more done later on. :p
