I know, I may sound stupid, but I feel horrible and horrified

Sorry to hear this. someones actually attempted to scam me on Nookazon. Quick Tip: if the other person makes a dash to the airport, or ends the session, IMMEDIATELY put the console in sleep mode(you can hold the home button while in-game to get a pop-up menu, and you'll have the option to). since the game hasn't saved since they arrived, everything from that session will be erased. just out of question, what site did you get scammed on?

Yeah, Nookazon isn't the most honest trading site, I'm always careful if the trade is a high value.
What villager was it? almost all of the Raymond trades are scams or hacked in.

Villager trades are always risky business outside of Bell Tree, no matter the place, but especially prevalent on Nookazon. I recommend not considering trades from those without a perfect 5 stars and at least 60 reviews. Always check their reviews, specifically the ones where villagers were sold/bought. Message the seller first and come to an agreement. Either half payment before and after, after or right outside the villager's home.
Sorry this happened to you, there's still many scummy people out there scamming people out of Raymond, even if the hype has died down some. Hope you manage to get him soon and that this experience doesn't ruin the game or Nookazon for you.

i have accumulated quite a bit of nook mile points; i wouldn't mind printing you off some tickets to go back towards what you lost :c
i know it wont replace everything you've lost, especially your current mood and confidence in people when it comes to trades, but it's all i can do to try and help. if i had raymond on my island, i'd be more than willing to let you take him off my hands for free.

again, i'm extremely sorry this happened. you can't kick yourself in the butt too much for it - places like nookazoon are supposed to be there to help you, not leech you.

Trading villagers is always a difficult topic in my eyes. Maybe next time, if there will be one, you could come to the agreement to give them the first half of the payment beforehand and only after you convinced the villager to come you will give them the other half? But like other people before me already said, I would really look at the feedbacks the person got. Many many people on Nookazon leave positive, as well as negative reviews so that's an important place to check out before trading something highly valuable.

I would be happy to donate a few nmts in your search for Raymond although he does go for more than I can donate. Maybe a group effort? I’m sure that you will find someone on here who is selling
