I don't know what's happening. I don't know what I did wrong. Moonsong is crashing down. The game keeps on restarting something like "An error has occured. The system will now restart. (Some data might be lost blah blah blah". Ever since, the game keeps on doing that, I'm even getting the black screen that says an error has occured. I don't know how long this is going to be keeping up until my town would be ruined. I'm not sure if my cartridge is damaged, or what. My other town is fine, and I have 1 3ds. Today, I was going to Marshal's house when this happened to the Re-Tail: (Yep, my 3ds screen was like that ever since I got the game)

I was scared. I didn't know what to do. The next time I loaded it up again, it was back to normal. I even get CONCERNED whenever I leave a building or villager's house. When loading, it sometimes freezes. I may not be able to trade on that cartridge anymore. Is anyone experiencing this? How do I fix it? Could I perhaps back it up somewhere else? If this is the wrong place to post help and I may have to move this to the Bell Tree HQ, please let me know.

I'm not really sure what's happening here. I'm sorry I can't offer any real advice. If your other game is fine though, than it must be that cartridge. If you didn't know it was the game itself, I'd think that my DS had a bunch of dead pixels after seeing that. I wish you the best of luck with this :(

Thank you for your support!

Your cart is most likely corrupted. I'm sorry. There is no salvaging it, I'm pretty sure. You are going to have to get a new cart.

If you don't want to lose your save: then you are going to have to use non-nintendo avenues (read: Homebrew and save manager) to back up the save and put it on your SD card. Start on your new cart, dump that save on a separate backup, then use a save editor (Not gonna link it bc forum rules but google it) and use the new save data to update the secure value on your old save, then save the old save with the updated checksum and inject with a save editor.

If the save messes up at that point: private message me and I will look into it. I'm sorry that you have to go through this; this is kinda the worst thing that could have happened to you tbh.

I think it could be a number of things, your other games are working fine so it kind of rules out being a problem with the ds itself.
Have you looked at the game cartridge? Can you see anything on the chips or do you think it could have got wet? Just wondering as my friend ruined his monster hunter with juice and while the game loaded it still kept coming up with errors. Or it could possibly be damaged in some other way. I really can't think of a suggestion you would be able to try for yourself. I would suggest it could be your save file but then every time I've known save files get corrupted it has never done what you have explained. Can you try and contact Nintendo support? Or do you have a local games shop? I'm just not sure there's much you can do by yourself with this one
Good luck and I hope your town isn't ruined :(

Yeah, sounds like the corrupt software issue stuff if other games and things works fine. If you still have the receipt and warranty, try going back to the store and ask if you can get a new one.

Be careful sending your console to Nintendo though since they may end up wiping it out completely or just replace it randomly.

That shouldn't happen. Talk to a rep on the phone explaining what is happening.
You have 2 ac games - both on cart or one digital?
And the cart game has given a partial black screen since you bought it? Did you buy new or used?
If bought under 12 months you should have warranty.

I would use the homebrew thingy mentioned above or buy a powersave to save your save file onto. I can't promise that will work but it is worth a try.

can you please take a picture of the 3ds with the probme but this time with a light on it
so i can see something different

(i maybe can help you but i need to know)

Forgot to suggest buying a power save if at all possible. Have a look on Amazon and it should be one of the top options. It's just to back up your town. Although with what you're experiencing I really couldn't say for sure if you would successfully be able to back it up :( Nintendo are your best bet, or as already suggested, if it's fairly new or stop under warranty then go to the store :(

Is it erroring before getting to the title screen and is this the message you get?error.jpg
If so it might be what happened to my town a couple of months ago. I ended up restarting my town but I don't think that's necessary. It still crashed and gave me the error message after I did. It seems to be an error loading up new town maps as it would error just before getting to the title screen and my game still errors sometimes just before going to tour islands and other people's town. I would just keep trying to load the game up ejecting and re-inserting the cartridge everytime it errors (I had to go through this process when trying to start my new town, it took a while) and as soon as it loads properly save as it should then overwrite the corrupt data.
That said I will admit I haven't had the problem with portions of the screen going black so I suppose it might be a different error but it sounds similar and as I mentioned before I still have some problems with it loading up new maps, but it's mostly reliable.

Yeah I've read and heard way too many stories with this to even want to deal with them. Also if they did that to mine and I lost like eg. all my Streetpass data I'd flip so bad.

holy that you make me have a heart attack
things like viruses or something crashing/corrupted stuff just freaks me out :(

Yeah, exactly! I forgot to mention both of my towns are physical, and that's the EXACT SAME problem I have. The other one is like the error when you remove a cartridge when it's still running, like the monitor and stylus screen is all black.
