I used to avoid entering the campsite when my town was full, but now that I have my dreamies, I find it fun to meet new villagers. 
I did have some "darn, I would have liked to have that villagers" moments, but never suffered any heartbreaks due to my dreamies camping.
The only time that was slightly painful was when I was campsite resetting for Sydney, and Yuka showed up. Those two look so much alike! The moment I entered the campsite I saw Yuka from behind and really wasn't sure, so my heart skipped a beat thinking it was Sydney. I'm sure I had a huge frown on my face when she turned around and showed her snooty mug (I actually do like Yuka though, but not at that moment!).
So yeah, best thing you can do is not check when you're full, but I know that takes a looot of self-discipline. P:

He's a big deal cuz he's a unicorn...I think he was my first ever dreamie I wanted. IDK, I like the smug personality type too.
Anyway, ya, I got 1 dreamie from the camp, but I got very lucky on that. It could happen again. But you know what, I've also met some cool campers, that were fun to play with for 5 minutes. If I'd walked away, I would have never met them. I guess it's not that big of a deal...but I think it's fun anyway.

Whenever that happened (because I didn't build the campsite when I reset recently, since I feel it's a waste of space), I knew I shouldn't check just in case. Of course, I'm a curious person so I always did.
Never found a dreamie in there either way. It would be nice if others could visit and get villagers from your campsite, and it would be helpful for cyclers too.

Ah, only ever so slightly. Most of the times I have 9 villagers, and when I have 10 I usually let the first to ping move out except my favorites. So I can usually invite my camper in.
That being said, I always get a moment of terrible panic whenever I hear a rumor of my favorite villagers leaving and that then that villager is either sleeping, in his/her house or in the Museum etc. This morning at 9 AM I talked to Curlos and he told me Katt was planning to leave and that I had to stop her (which is terribly cute to say btw <3), but Katt sleeps until 11 AM...
I seriously saved and quit, TT'd a few hours forward, ran into Katt and she pinged me telling me she wanted to leave. Awww, and she sounded she enthusiastic to visit new places, but decided to stay when I told her so. Pfiew.

I've been getting a camper in Celadon nearly every day, no tier one or Phoebe has come yet but if they do... I have a full town. The one villager I want to move out is sick, so he can't ping me. :< I still can't resist going inside the campsite, though.

I used to but I never saw any good villagers in it and I have all my dreamies now so

Whenever I have nine or ten villagers 99% of the time I don't get anyone in my campsite. When I have ten and there is a tent, I used to panic, but now that I've gone through a lot of decent villagers and have great villagers now, I don't really mind.
I too panic when Isabell does that side tilt of her head and says... " Uh Mayor"... It's like a list scrolls through my mind in the space of seconds... I saved didn't I? Yes, yes I did. Is it a holiday? .... no, no don't think so.... OMG Is it a villager in Boxes?!?!? Bud! Bud I swear if it's you I shall never search for you again and you can live in your parents garage getting old and fat and eating Nachos and playing WOW for the rest of your life and OMGWhatamIgoingtodo?... and she wants to tell me that the shoe store opened. Plah.
