I accidentally destroyed my own island?

So I wanted to improve my island for beetle farming, and cut down all the trees. I planted them in more convenient locations that I knew they could grow in. When I came back a few days later, all the saplings were gone. There was no sign they had ever been planted. How can I fix my island?

Where did you plant them? O: If you put them too close to the water they won't grow D: Did you use the right fruit? Beetle trees for beetle farming are the palm trees only (coconut and banana)

Go on some tours and bring back the bananas and coconuts to plant again!
