Hybrid Help

What in the world breeds blue violets? There are so many guides saying different combinations and I don't know which one works. Does blue x blue work?

Same thing for pink roses. Does pink x pink work?

I grow all my hybrids in checkerboard patterns. Blue violets and pink roses are somewhat difficult to breed, but it definitely works.

Blue roses feel easier to breed than those two. I guess I just don't have a green thumb (or enough fertilizer).
