it was a purple tulip!

The fact that you said "How did this happen" no offence.

But it happened and you got a hybrid its just funny.

That arrangement won't get you hybrids. The flowers have to be adjacent to each other, either right next to each other (horizontally or vertically) or diagonally. Leaving spaces between them means they won't have any chance of growing a hybrid.

Well I wouldn't even put effort into making hybrids, I usually like original colors anyway.
