How to play when people keep visiting?

Hi everyone!! I LOVE animal crossing but I’m struggling with the visitors piece. I shared my Dodo code to get visitors but I can’t physically play as it’s just one person after another...!? Is this normal? How do I visitors but still run round the island to talk to them without the game pausing for more people?

Share your dodo code via private message so you can control when people are coming in and out. Decide on a max number of visitors and then use a one-in-one-out policy. If they want to come, they'll wait their turn! :)

This is normal and there's really no way to avoid the game doing cut-scenes every time a person comes. If you want to limit the amount of cut-scenes going on at one time, you'll have to space out the time you give the dodo code to people. For example, usually when people are hosting DIY visits they will only PM the dodo code to 2 people at one time to limit the cut-scenes.

Just a tip (you probably already know this): But if you want to limit the amount of people/cut-scenes happening at once, don't post your Dodo code on the actual thread. Have people comment that they would like to come, and then PM them the dodo code. Having cut-scene happening every 15 seconds is not only annoying for the host, but also for the people visiting.

That's a struggle if you're giving your dodo to a lot of people... Two good options:
1- Manually give your dodo and monitor how many people you give it to and when. That way once you have say, 5 people, you can pause and take your time with them, then once they leave invite more.
2- Use turnip exchange to create a queue. The queue will manage itself so you can choose how many people have access at the same time, and it makes it much smoother for both parties

Loading times are a real pain, so it's best not to share your code publicly. It's very risky.

Instead, next time you want visitors, you could ask them to message you privately for the code instead.

I have another option for you. Get Orville to close the gates once a few people arrive. It doesn't end the session but it stops further people from arriving until you reopen again. It's not ideal, but it can help if you've posted a dodo code publicly.

Yes! The turnip exchange is great!
But an extra note for the OP, most of the time people's profile name on TBT does not match their In-game name (which the turnip exchange asks for). So in the case where someone does something on your island that you don't like (tramples flowers, shakes trees & takes fruit, takes items laying around), you won't be able to know who that was from TBT. In that case, you won't be able to give them a bad review to warn others about their behavior or report them to the mods.

Yes that's something I should do more as well and that's good advice, ask people for their IG name and town name that way you can keep track of what's going on better

Ah great!!! I thought that would end the session! Fab!

To PM someone the dodo code: Hover you cursor over someone's profile name (a small window should come up) --> Click 'Start conversation'

If the window isn't coming up then just click on their username which will take you to their profile --> Click 'Start conversation'

How do I set up the one in one out policy thingy?

Either by using the website I gave you, that will do it itself, or just by sending yourself the dodo one by one 😝 You send the dodo to one person, they come in, do they thing, they leave, you send the dodo to the next person, etc...

Like the others said, AC Exchamge app will let you set a line up for people to join. Then you can let 2 people on your island at a time. They won’t get the code sent to them until you send it to them on the app.

How exactly does that work? Like do you press a button to send the Dodo code or what? Is it easy to track when someone leaves your island and therefore exits the queue?
