Hi! So I've actually been wondering for a while if there's anyway to check if a pokemon is legit or not?

I've gotten some event pokemon through trade that I'm wondering if it's legit or not

I googled it but most of what I saw is kinda confusing to me,
something about the ID and dates?

I think that if there is a blue pentagon next ro the' markings' then it is legit.

Nope, the blue pentagon simply means it is native to a 6th Gen Game, even hacked Gen VI Native Pokemon will have that Pentagon.

The dates you're talking about are specific dates the Pokemon will have if they were hacked into the game using Powersaves. Powersaves has the ability to generate wondercards for events, but the thing is, they always have the same dates so people use that to as a basis to avoid those dates. However, there are also events with thise dates but are legit, it's not a 100% way to tell that those events are hacked. For example,I have a Tanabata Jirachi. Powersaves date is 8/1/2014, buti t was added to powersaves around 8/8/2014. I was able to trade for one 8/2/2014, but it was not released on powersaves yet so it's most likely legit even though it has the date 8/1/2014.

Serebii has a list of event pokemon; the trainer ID and the trainer name seem legit for this one, as well as the moveset and held item.

Other things to look for to check legality would be on the final page of the Pokemon's info (met location, etc). If you scroll down on Serebii's event page, you can find the event Jirachi you have.

It looks like you have the Christmas Charity Event Jirachi, but you'll need to check the other info to confirm if it matches up to that.
