How to get all the prank items?

OK, so I know that the main rules are be stingy with candy, and play the games to lose. But is there anything else you need to do to get all the prank items? Because I'm trying to get the Jack in the Box and Jack o Lantern, but none of my villagers are giving me the goods. Or am I just crazy and those two items are like, only in City Folk or something?

The Jack O' Lantern doesn't exist per se in ACNL, unless you count Jack's mask, which you get by talking to him without candy with nothing on your head. The Jack in the Box is gotten when you talk to a villager with a full inventory and lose the candy game. It then randomly replaces one of your items. I hope this helped!
