How To Cope With NMT Island Regret

So today I used all my Nook Miles Tickets to hunt for a villager to replace Cyd. About halfway in, I found Fauna, a villager I adore, but I didn't invite her in hopes of finding an even better villager. I ran out of tickets and I ended up going with Tia, who is pretty cute and has a cool design. I am filled with regret... I can't believe I gave up Fauna... ☹. I have Fauna in New Leaf, but still... she's better than Tia in my opinion. (Also, now I'm broke when it comes to Nook Miles so hopefully no one moves out soon because I won't be able to find a replacement unless a miracle happens- and no, I will not use real money to buy some.) Any advice? ERIK COULD HAVE HAD A GIRLFRIEND!!!

I feel this so much. I was used to find a villager that I liked in mostly 5 tickets, until I got more picky and promissed myself I was going for some specific villagers, no distractions. I had an open plot and 30 NMT. On my way, I passed on Filbert, Blaire, Dobie and some others I cant remember. Found Marina in my last ticket, but I don't like her that much, but it was better than rando move-in. Bringing her instead of the other ones was so sad....

i'm not really a fan of normal villagers, especially tia and merengue, but fauna and margie are so cute ♡
i could try get you fauna for free as my sister has her amiibo but it might be a few days before i get it aha

It happens. To be honest, gambling thru NMT is only worth it if you have 200~300nmt. Pushing your luck when you don't have much of it could be rewarding or not (that is, if luck was on your side.)

Think about it this way, you're not looking for the new villagers. Every single villager that has an amiibo is very affordable and not as expensive.

If you really wanted Fauna, just buy her! (by bells or NMT)

I blew all my nook miles trying to find my 9th and 10th villagers. Wasn’t looking for anyone in particular just any decent cranky and snooty and didn’t see even one of those. Ended up with two randos instead. I was so traumatized. I told myself I’ll never fall victim to island hopping ever again. After that, I broke my no TT rule as an exception and tried to fix what happened via the campsite trick. Ended up booting out the randos and replacing them with decent ones I wanted PLUS I GOT MY BOY MARSHAL!

I think it’s tough to go Island Hopping with a specific villager in mind. There’s just such a slim chance of finding them, and such a high one of regretting all the good options you passed over. Going into it just looking for a good option, or even one of many favorites, is definitely easier on your sanity.

I hope you enjoy Tia while she’s with you, and then find someone you love—maybe you’ll even bump into Fauna again!

I passed on Marina in the hopes of finding any of my dreamies (Fauna, lol), and ended up with a random villager (Grizzly) cos I already ran out of NMTs. Full of regret as well. That was the one time I ever tried to island hop for a specific villager.

It's tough to go island hopping, I just put my island hopping to chance now. I see someone that looks decent or close to my type of villagers (I like to take in plain, solid-color villagers) I already take them. If I stumble upon a dreamy, then yey!

Make the most of Grizzly for now. He’s not too bad. There’s worse crankies out there. But yea kinda how I felt when I found nobody and then let the game move someone into the plot. It was Nate. He’s gone now lol.

YES!! yesterday i passed up on sherb bc i still had 15 tickets left. for the rest of the tickets i just kept getting ugly villagers and i regret it so bad

I find that move outs take a while to happen so dont worry about getting one too soon. I know all too well how crushing island hopping can be XD That sad feeling when you watch the number of your tickets dwindle and start evaluating your previous choices.

To be honest, I'd be happy if I've seen Tia after consuming my last few tickets. It could be worse, you know? I like Fauna. She's one of my favorite normal villagers but Tia is in my short list too. Give her a try (since you have no choice now). Maybe you'll end up liking her.
