How to control bamboo growth?

I was just planning to grow bamboo in front of the mayors office (fig.1), but now it has spread out so far... i want it to stop. (fig.2)
How do you stop it...
i know you need an axe, but the axe would die due to how many bamboo there is
is there another way?​

Unfortunately, the only way to get rid of the bamboo that has already grown is to chop it down with an axe and then dig up the stumps that are left behind. If you can get your hands on a golden axe, it won't break.

To keep the bamboo in check, you can dig up the shoots before they start to grow. They'll look just like regular dig spots. You can also stop it from spreading by filling in the open areas around your bamboo with patterns, flowers, bushes, etc. As long as there are no open spaces within, I believe, 2 spaces in all directions from a bamboo plant, it can't produce any shoots.

If you dig the shoots up before they grow, they do sell for a good price are re-tail.

I have a town that have bamboo trees everywhere pretty much.


I have flowers (along with the path) around them, I still dig up the shoots that shows up.
But at least it's not too many since the flowers and the path are keeping more from showing up.
(The carnations are in front of the regular flowers to keep those pesky villagers from planting more flowers.)

i dont have any full grown bamboos i just chop them at the 1st stage of growth cus it looks nice and nothing spawns but also theyll always spawn as shoots or be underground before growing so u can just dig them up

so basically u cant do anything about it if u want to keep ur bamboos fully grown, unless theres no space for it to spawn

I think it's worth it to leave at least a little space around your bamboo if just because the shoots sell well when they appear. I just make checking the bamboo part of my daily routine, like digging up fossils and hitting the money rock. It's a completely passive way to get extra bells.

That said, if you're not the sort of person that does the daily routine sort of thing, then yeah, it may be better in your case to block the bamboo in. You said you have it growing in front of the mayor's house, though, so if you're playing as the mayor, then you wouldn't have to go out of your way to check on it. Either way you have some different options to choose from.

thing is i dont really play that town every day... I left the town for a month and then the bamboo was spread out like this (fig 2)..
