How often do balloons spawn?

I heard that they spawn every 5 minutes but I have been running around my town every 5 minutes like a headless chicken looking for them for the past hour and have only gotten 4.

Also talking to a nookling and going back outside doesn't seem to make any spawn for me even if I run up and down the shoreline for the next few minutes looking for one.
Does anyone know for sure how often they come up?

Balloons spawn every 10 minutes I believe. There is a trick to spawn them every 5 minutes but I'm not sure if it was patched out or not.

I'm not 100% sure when they appear, but the direction from which they spawn only changes twice a day. They always come from the same direction from 5am to 6pm. From 6pm to 5am, they will spawn in the opposite direction.

OKAY I think I figured it out finally
I am now getting them every 5 minutes if I do as follows:

Wait until 2 minutes before the balloon spawn time (wait until :02 or :07)

Go in Nook's and ask about an item price. Say nevermind to the item, then also talk to a Nookling and say nevermind and leave.

In 2 minutes (at :04 or :09) another balloon technically will spawn, but it takes another minute and a half after that to reach the shore.
So wait 3:30 total before you go look for it ( meaning instead look at :05 or :10)

Then wait until 2 minutes before a balloon spawn at :02 or :07 and go to Nook's again to repeat

Gonna be honest, I've been working on terraforming and landscaping recently and it feels like balloons are spawning constantly. I'm actually getting a little annoyed because i HAVE to pop them, but they spawn so often I feel like I barely get anything done!
I've also noticed that my villagers have almost constantly had thought bubbles while I'm working on things, just one after the other. IDK if I just got really lucky recently or what

When ever I work on something or stay outside on my island, a balloon always shows up every 5-10 minutes or not for me and it changes position in the daytime and nighttime.
