How much do you prepare for birthdays?

I order a gift that I know they'll like
Then on their birthday, I wrap it and deliver it.
I also make sure to send them a birthday postcard on the day, because they like that

That's it

First and foremost, I use the Bulletin board and I make a post that includes their names, bdays, favorite color/style.

When said villager bday approaches, I preorder the gift for the specific villager (if I do not have it in my inventory). In addition, I write a bday letter and attach a wrapped bday present (in their preferred color). On the day of the birthday I also bring a gift to their bday party the coincidences with their style/color.
I do a lot of these things too but I never actually thought of using the bulletin board, I should do that for my current villagers! Of course I plan to cycle a bit instead of just finding 10 dreamies to keep immediately, but I still wanna celebrate everyone's birthday, so I'll have to update the post but that's fine by me. I don't necessarily always keep with their preferred style though, sometimes I just go with something in their favorite color that I hope they'll like even if the style is wrong. I gave Punchy a kids smock for his birthday, it's the right color but not style, but he still wears it around a ton.

It's def a challenge to know their exact preferences. I try to go off memory or I use my old ACNL guidebook (I have not received NH companion guide yet) and hope for the best.

I've always used the Bulletin Board to post little things because I had so many towns in NL, it was hard to keep track ;) Glad you can find use in that as well. Cheers!

I‘m always trying to prepare for the birthday, so I decide on the villagers clothing or furniture preference and color just like the previous games.

the moment i hear about their birthday, i order a present from nook shopping/look through my inventory for something and have it wrapped and placed outside their door the next day! that way i don't have to even think about it until it's announced.

I just buy them something on the day unless they're a favorite villager and if I see something that I think they'll like before the day I'll get it

Not at all, I treat it like the daily gift and give them the most suitable item I have that day.

I always forget on like the day of or the day before, do they still send an invite in the mail in this game like they used to?

For the first few birthdays I had, they were starter villagers I didn’t care about so I gave them random furniture and in one case, a shell lmao. But for Beau and Punchy, I looked at their recommended gifts list, saved the furniture in my storage for the right day, etc.

I forgot to wrap Beau’s gift, does anyone know if they appreciate wrapped gifts any more or is it just a cute aesthetic thing? also every time I go to a birthday party and all the villagers are in their fancy clothes I feel bad like I underdressed lol. I should have a birthday outfit on hand!

they do not. It will be posted on the bulletin board outside resident services around a week in advance, and the few days before villagers might mention it in conversation.

I gift them their little astrology item. I've had 2 birthdays so far and I gave Pietro the Aries rocking chair and Deirdre got a Taurus bathtub. Seems like they like it so far and that way I don't really think about choosing a gift from their long list of preferences.
