How many trees is too many?

My villagers keep getting “lost in the woods,” but I wanted a woodland theme island. What is the max number of trees you can have while also having five stars?

I once read that it was 68 spaces per item, regardless of the item, but again I'm not sure if this sis real, so I might be making this up. :/

I heard the maximum is 220 trees. Someone on Reddit decided to count their trees then cut them one by one until Isabelle doesn’t say it anymore.

I can confirm after testing it myself that it’s not tree per acre, it IS in fact 220 trees, in case anyone else wants to know.

Good to know. I have a large cluster of trees in one area and almost none anywhere else. I haven't done a tree count of my island, but I guess I'm over 220.

Yeah, I have a giant orchard in the back of my island and it’s a cluster.
