Hellooo everyone!
I was watching some New Horizon videos earlier, and then it came to me.
When NH comes out, do you guys think that NL will go unplayed? Or do you think people will still play it continuously? Personally I don't know what I would do.
What about you?
Thanks for reading, can't wait to hear everyone's response!

Well, since I do not have a Switch and have no immediate plans to get a Switch, I will still be playing New Leaf daily for quite a while. I do think a lot of people will move on to the new game and drop New Leaf, if they're even still playing it now, but there are probably some of us who will stick with New Leaf. Honestly, all of the older games still have value and there are still some people playing them, so I'm sure New Leaf will fall into that category as well. It just won't be the main game anymore.

I still plan to play NewLeaf, but my overall playtime of it will definitely lessen, as we will have a whole new mainline AC game to explore and complete.

I got rid of my town and sold my ds nearly two years ago, so I'm just in limbo waiting for NH.

Pretty sure a good amount of people will continue playing New Leaf even after the release of New Horizons. I for myself stopped playing it a long time ago, in general I would have abandoned New Leaf for the sake of the new game at some point, as I always lose interested in the older game once a new one comes out.

New Leaf is so expansive that it is probably the game that many people will never stop playing. People have grown attached to their towns. It's still popular in Japan.

I’ve been playing my new leaf towns a lot lately to get myself excited for ACNH (and also “send off” my towns :p) I do plan on retiring my new leaf towns after ACNH comes out but I’ll definitely continue visiting it from time to time! I started a blog about my AC gameplay and I have been documenting my new leaf towns there. So it’s likely I’ll go back to new leaf just to see how my new island compares to my older towns! I just won’t be doing big projects like mass redesigns or theme changes but I’ll definitely drop in to say hi and run around. Plus if they don’t move puzzle league over to ACNH i’ll likely go on ACNL just to play puzzle league.

Some users are still playing Animal Crossing Wild World, even today, so I don't think New Leaf will be completely dropped when New Horizons releases. Over the years, I can see NL being played less and less, though, and once the 3DS losses online connectivity, I imagine it'll be played as much as Wild World, which is barely.

Personally, I don't own a Switch or plan on buying one soon, but I do have it in my wishlist. Once I play New Horizons, I'm thinking I'll never return to New Leaf, unless an event, otherwise, calls for it on BellTreeForums. Even if NH turns out to be total crap, I'd still rather play it than go back to New Leaf only because I'm not one who really enjoys revisiting old games that I've already played through (except on rare occasions).

I might get it but since my sister owns the Switch and she's in college ACNL will still be the main game (also considering my mom probably won't be letting us get another one since their 300 dollars or something)

ive kinda lost the energy for NL tbh, but instead ive started a new town in city folk, so im sure at some point nostalgia will hit and i will play it again with my same old town, or buy a second copy and restart it.

I will continue to play New Leaf. I've only had for around a year, so I'm not going to drop it just yet. I was unimpressed with the Switch, and I just don't have any interest in NH.

I'll still be around in the NL spectrum for a long time coming. :D

People will still be playing regardless. No everyone has a switch or can afford one. This is probably going to be like splatoon for example where the first one still has an active fanbase. I have officially abandoned both of my towns and don't plan on ever going back to them. It's a bittersweet feeling and I have a lot of amazing memories but oh wells.
As soon as I got a switch I've been on it 100% As New Horizons drop that's where I'll be at.

I will still be playing New Leaf, at least until there is no WiFi. I am still enjoying the game, so I will likely just play it less while being active with New Horizons. It may just depend on how busy I get, the same goes for others.

acnl will probably still be played for years to come!
just like others have said, some people still play wild world and city folk.
plus there are endless possibilities of ideas for your town, so i'm sure that'll play a huge part in people still playing acnl even when nh is released!

You wouldn't be able to trade or upgrade the train station though, when they shut the servers down, unless it's locally.

I wonder when they will shut them down.

Sheesh, that's going to be a bummer when it rolls around. I hope it's not anytime soon.

normally i do abandon the previous games when the new one comes out, but i've got a special attachment to new leaf. i don't think i'll ever totally stop playing new leaf.
