how long can a dream town be un-updated before getting removed?

I don't think anyone other than Nintendo knows for certain--though it would be great if someone posts here and proves me wrong; I'd love to know!
I last updated AHS in February 2017, and the dream is still there. I think it depends on how often the town gets visitors, too, or at least that's a theory I've heard.

Some dream towns have been on the Dream Suite with the same address since the update.

Supposedly if a town is popular enough - as in at least more than 1 visit per week - it should stay up. But no guarantees.
But with my multiple towns I have had my old DA stay available and usable but Luna gave me a new DA when I updated the DA.

I have talked to multiple mayors - it seems the Dream Address changes with no indication on our side.

My town Pixel in my signature has had hundreds of visits but Luna keeps changing my DA so I have two DAs for the same town. I haven?t visited the DAs in awhile but I think they both still are accessible.

I know one of my friends (who I rarely see now) has their town up still during winter. I asked them when they last updated and they mentioned it was around the WA update, so that's like what 2 years almost? I'd say if they do kick them over time, it's randomly done.

Mischacrossing's town of Rivendel disappeared from the Dream Suite, apparently. I know that town was still getting lots of visits, so...I guess it is random.
