How do you make a separate comment on a thread you just started?

I just started a thread in The Museum and when I went to comment on it, it did a post merge. Is there any way I can just comment on it without it doing that?

I think the posts merge if you were the last poster and it hasn't been x amount of minutes since the last post. I don't know how long it takes though.. it's probably to prevent the thread from being bumped too many times.

Eg. for art threads, general people will say not to post in the thread until it's ready, so the poster can reserve spots for themselves without people commenting in between.

Yeah, I think you have to wait about 30 minutes. I made my thread at 7:22am and when I posted a comment at 8:04 it was fine.
