hi i have been playing AC NL since about october, after TT alot and resetting once, i am now wondering how to keep the game interesting and how others manage to do this?

Im trying to get to 100% on the fossils, bugs etc but i dont know how to keep it going!!

any suggestions?

AC isn't supposed to be work you know. It's a game, do you find it interesting? If not, maybe it's time to play something else for a bit.

Personally I play at least a little each day to do the usual rounds, dig up and sell fossils, talk to villagers and do any errands they want me to do. My goals for now are to get every one of my villagers to give me their pic, and to grow enough black flowers that I can line all my routes with them. (I'd also like to get a blue rose to spawn just to say I did...) That all keeps me interested personally, but other people might find them boring goals...

I've never TTed and I don't really trade much, so almost everything I've done in my town is home-grown as it were. I think that helps me stay interested too. Not that there's anything wrong with trading for stuff, but if I'd just gone on the ReTail board and bought a couple hundred black roses I'd have been done with my landscaping in a week and have nothing else to do!

I usually talk to villagers, continue to lay down paths, check shops, water hybrids and just go around town digging up stuff.

Fixing up my town and houses is what keeps me going the most. Other than building strong friendships and trying to get my villagers pics.
Fixing my town and planning it out is time consuming especially if you want a certain look or theme. Furnishing your house and trying to collect the items to do so also keeps my interest. When I got a little bored in one town I decided to make a bakery so that involves fixing a whole new house and fun for me anyway. ^^

First off, one way to keep things interesting is not to TT. I'm not saying that TTing is bad, but the only time I do it is to get a villager into boxes to make room or to get them adopted. Otherwise, I like to play day-by-day. I do the daily things (dig fossils, gem rock, etc.) and then do whatever my villagers need done. I like trying to get hybrid flowers and making my town pretty.

If you're bored of the game, play something else for a week or two and start a new town. Make a list of villagers you really like and try to get them all. Make a themed town with PWPs, like zen, fairy tale, or something else. Find other people on the site who you get along with and play AC with them, trading items and villagers and helping each other out. Just a few ideas :)

Hmm, I think you should set yourself a goal/s. is there a set or series you want to work on? What do you want to achieve?
My goal is to collect all the items, reach the Bell limit and obtain every villagers' pic who live in my town.
By having goals, you are determined to pursue them. For example, to fill my catalog, every 2 days or so, I send my villagers a letter with an item attached to it. That way when they send them back, I will get random items that gets catalogued.

The main thing I do to keep me interested is changing my towns design and my homes as well. My town and/or house is constantly changing. lol

I took a long Animal Crossing break! I'm back at it again. Funny thing is my brother got a 3ds today for Christmas, his girlfriend recently got a 3ds and Animal Crossing and my brother has been playing in her town. My other brother got his fiancee a 3ds and Animal Crossing for Christmas as well... should be interesting if we decide to play together. Even more interesting if they decided to join this forum, ha. But my main focus is my town. Organizing public works projects, destroying and rebuilding. Cutting down trees, replanting trees in better places. Same with bushes and bamboo. Breeding hybrids and placing them along my paths. Also talking to my villagers daily and waiting for receive some pictures.

I've stopped focusing on getting villagers I really wanted and now I have five villagers I will freely let go if they decide to ping to make room for anyone else. Still have some bugs to catch, fish to catch, fossils and paintings to get. I also need to remember to take my 3DS out more for street passes. Haven't had a new model home in a while. You just need to set goals and flow with it. I don't remember the last time I time traveled(I used to for my hybrid shop). I'm really glad I don't anymore.

Pretty much that in a nutshell.

If you are getting bored it may be better to take a break. When I want to put AC:NL down I'll just write down the date I last played and change the date back to that day next time I play.

How I keep it interesting:

I live broke. I don't have tons of money in the bank. So when I have a project to do or want to pay on my home, I have to work for it. I also don't try to rush through things either. I still only have three rooms in my home(expanded completely) and I've played since June. If you are getting bored with a hobby it may help to try doing something else. I love catching bugs but it got old. I switched to making patterns even though I'm bad at it. I also try not to over play, I try to keep it at an hour to two hours a day.
