How do you get the treasure chest?

The game guide says you get it from Timmy and Tommy 4 8,600 bells but I'm pretty sure that's wrong. I found a few posts that say it's an island item. Is this where you get it? If so is it a regular item or a club tortimer item? How many medals does it cost? Thanks

Its wrong, you get it from the island and I think its 100 medals.

If you want any of the Club Tortimer exclusive items, such as the silver axe. That's all I use it for, anyway. I've never had anyone try to bamboozle me into anything And if that happens, you just gotta accept that you probably aren't getting the items you bought and shut off the wifi.

What does the chest actually do? Is it just a rare furnature item? :/
