How do you get rid of a villager?

There's this place where I wanted to build a fountain, some streetlamps, plant flowers and pine trees, and make things pretty. I wake up, and the place where I wanted to build my fountain, there's this villager who moved in right in that spot. It's so frustrating when villagers move in, and they completely block my construction plans!

My question is, what is the fastest way of getting rid of a villager? I tried hitting him with my bug net, pushing him, etc... but he still didn't ask me if he should move or not.

I think Nintendo neglected this part of the game. If you're the mayor, why can't you decide where your residents move?

Thanks in advance!

I would try to be the worst mayor possible to the villager I don't like. I don't do their favors, push them, & whack them with my net. I've had 3 villagers ask me if they should move out or not. But this was in my previous town before I reset.

Now, I've learned to work my way around my villagers. It sucks, but I just don't have the time or patience to deal with trying to get rid of them or logging on as a new character to know where my new neighbors are being placed.

Good luck to your town & I hope you get rid of the villagers you don't like. I agree with you 100% on Nintendo neglecting this part of the game.
