So I read that you need between 110-200 trees for the Perfect Town rating, but that sounds like it'll take up a lot of space (I have the flowers and PWPs down). I have two small orchards and a row of trees by the train tracks, which is just under 50 trees, and I like the way my town looks now - adding more trees will just look so cluttered, and I hate how they block the view and all.

What do you guys do? Do you chop down all the trees once you get the rating, or just have a big orchard somewhere where they're not in the way?

Also, do bushes and bamboo add to the tree count, or are they something else?

Thanks!

Well I've never had an issue with having a large amount of trees since I like my town to have a forest feel. I assume palm trees on the beach count so maybe you could trying growing a bunch of them to make up for lack of trees in your town. And bamboo and bushes don't count as trees. :)

I have a camping/forest area in one corner and I have the town outlined in trees and flowers, evenly spaced out. I have a few trees planted here and there in other areas but overall left the center of each quadrant open. Lots of flowers helped...I have them lining the town and 3 around the left and right side of each house. I have PWPs that I like placed in spots that I felt suited them and in other spots I placed flower beds so random houses wouldn't be built where I didn't want any. I have 11 possible spots for villager houses and I am ok with those spots so it works out great and I don't feel cluttered. My town isn't going to win any prizes for best landscaping but I like it and I can get around easily and that is all that matters to me :)

I was quite surprised to get perfect town status recently - I only built six or seven PWPs. For trees what I did is plant them alongside many of the paths, and I also have a little conifer "Narnia" feature of about eight to ten trees with a streetlamp in the center. I've still got plenty of wide open spaces but apparently this was enough to get me perfect town status completely by accident.

Can't do that. You don't just get the perfect rating and keep it. If it was trees that earned the rating and you chopped them down, you'd be back to a lesser rating.

Semi-related: I was under the impression that the rating was calculated at 6am, but I had a bunch of junk I had just put down today on the ground, and Isabelle said the residents thought they were living in a landfill. I picked it up, visited another town, and talked to her again, and I was back to perfect.

Rating is updated on the fly, but the rating check for the golden watering can only happens at 6 AM.

I doubt I have over 110 trees in my town, and I have perfect town. Don't have many projects either, I think it's because I have a lot of flowers.

Thanks for all the info, guys! I completely forgot about palm trees, can definitely make use of the beach area.

Here are the requirements:

-Less than 10 weeds
-Less than 10 items on the ground (not including sea shells, fruit, mushrooms, flowers, buried fossils, gyriods, pitfalls)
-No trash
-No Rafflesia

-Between 110 Trees
-Over 50 flowers
-High Nature and Living Points from PWPs (certain PWPS hinder and help these points)

Yes, just I got it! Didn't even need a hundred trees, after planting on the beach, I had around 88 trees, didn't count my flowers but there's well over 50, and I have 11 PWPs.

Ok! Ignore that last post of mine, I just got a perfect town rating, yes - you do need lots of trees, unfortunately. If you want, feel free to come to my town in person to see how i've done it, and get ideas ^_^ Best to PM me though, as I tend to forget about posts i've made c:

Put plenty of palm trees on your beaches.
Put cedar trees along the north fence, and halfway down the cliff side of town.
Put fruit and bell trees along the south half of the cliff side of town.
Put Public Works Projects in the interior, where ever you'd like.
Put flowers where ever you'd like.

Shrubs do not count as trees.
Bamboo trees DO count as trees.
"Dead" trees (perfect fruit trees that have lost their leaves) DO count as trees.
