How do you feel about the hourly music in this version?

I've really been enjoying the game so far, but I think one of the biggest gripes I've been having is the hourly music feels so... forgettable? I don't know how to describe it, but I was re-listening to the music from previous installments and I feel like the general themes used in the music this version aren't hitting right Maybe because they aren't using the iconic accordion sounds? They definitely went a different direction to maybe replicate a "summer vacation" vibe which makes sense, but there isn't a home-y nostalgic feel that I'm so familiar with in the franchise.

(On a smaller note, they also didn't bring back music boxes as far as we know which is another really big thing that upset me, but I digress)

Not to say there aren't a few standouts. 5 AM is a favorite of the selection, but generally really disappointed with it. I often find myself muting the game sounds nowadays because I don't enjoy the music at all.

Please don't take this as a general knock on the game though! I've been having a blast playing and plan to continue spending hundreds of hours on it. I just can't find myself feeling attached to the music even after 200+ hours of game play

I deeply regret the music variations on rainy days, new leaf's were fantastic, but I haven't noticed any change in the bg tune when it's raining in NH.
I loved NL's ost, it was calm, soothing, not overcharged, I don't feel that with NH's music, I like some of the hourly music's but most of them are more than forgettable. It's a pity.

Like you said, there are a few hours that I enjoy...but, most of them tend to blend together as the same song. Maybe this is intentional...as if to represent the "working hours of the day". I think 3am is one of my favorites. Don't quote me on that. But, yeah...some of the weird hours have good music.

Btw, is it possible that every season has new tracks? I hope the hourly tracks for winter are different than the ones for spring, etc.

I hate the hourly music, compared to New Leaf I think it's awful, there is a few hours I like, most of them sound the same (a variation of the main theme) and I'm really dissapointed in it.. ;_;

Eh....it’s okay. I do prefer NL more and one of the fanmade hourly music for NH sounds so much better better than the actual soundtrack. I feel like they kinda used the synthesizer too much and it doesn’t fit some parts of the day.

I only like a few hours of it. A lot of it seems to be the same to me so I don't really distinguish between different hours and none of them really stand out since they all seem to be variations of each other. I haven't heard every hour yet so I won't say that I like/dislike it more than New Leaf until I do. I absolutely love this game though!

Some of the ones during the day sounds more like something out of splatoon, or elevator music than Animal crossing, one of them I straight up hate with a fiery passion, and wish I could wipe it off of my switch's harddrive, but I really like the night time music.
My biggest issue with it is that it sound more like actual music than a nice atmospheric tune that I feel previous installments nailed.

I wish I could un unlock the music, I preferred the no hourly music to the hourly music in this game, I get annoyed listening to it, excluding the night music.

I love it. Especially 1am, 2am, and 5am. It reminds me of the original Animal Crossing sountrack. I couldn't stand New Leaf's music at all and always had to play it muted because it was so bad.

I honestly dislike most of the music. I like the chill music more than the weird stuff that gets played in the daytime. I think a lot of people like the music that is played at night more that I have noticed. It just doesn't sound like animal crossing music to me. I just try to not listen to some of the day time music LOL.

It's...Animal Crossing hourly BGM. Some of it's pretty good, most of it is just there, and a select few tracks are irritating.

I love it! I wasn't a huge fan of New Leaf's music because I found it too relaxed and boring, so I love how New Horizon's music is so much more upbeat. It gives me Gamecube vibes. I love the brass instrumentation present in some tracks and how's there's more drums and bass. I want music that makes me want to run around my island, not music that puts me to sleep.

I’m also very disappointed. I remember back when I played WW and I’d be humming those tunes to myself throughout the day (I even do now, occasionally!). I did this less with NL and I never do this at all with NH. Some of the music sounds a little out of place for an AC game, a bit too upbeat and boppy. I much prefer the more relaxed and atmospheric music, but I do get they were going for that tropical island beachy vibe... It doesn’t hit the mark for me, unfortunately.

To me, New Horizons' hourly music reminds me a bit of the GC-soundtrack. It's more upbeat and playful than soothing and relaxing. Of course, there are a few stinkers I don't like at all (8AM for example), but that's pretty much the case for all iterations of the hourly tunes.
Over all, I like most of the themes. In the end, it doesn't matter that much. Once you've been playing for some time, the music becomes white noise anyways.

3am and 5pm are the best. I do love the funky and strange music. Reminds me of the GCN game’s. Though I wish they’d bring back the cat hour from GCN lmao, it’s the best hour music in the whole series. Some of the day hours in NH do blend together too much though.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the New Horizons soundtrack at all really. It all feels way too loud and bombastic to me. I would have much preferred something more akin to the more mellow/peaceful tracks of Wild World. The rain music was also really disappointing to me when I first heard it, as I was hoping for the cute twinkly sounding renditions like in New Leaf.

I'm so frustrated there are no sound settings to lower/mute the music, while still being able to hear the rest of the fantastic sound design. I find myself playing with the game's audio very low most of the time because I find the music quite grating.

Though, if I could have anything, I'd love to have the option to choose between all of the previous hourly soundtracks and swap out the music as you liked. Like how Dragon Quest 11 allows you to use the Dragon Quest 8 overworld music.

I love some of the tracks (2 AM, 5 AM), hate some of them (3 AM, 3 PM), and either like or am indifferent to the rest. I don't think the music is generally as soothing or memorable as previous games, but I don't think it's terrible.

was hoping that 4 am's would be kinda creepy like NL's lol

while the new songs aren't bad, they sort of sound so similar to each other to the point that they aren't that memorable right away compared to new leaf's

i also feel like some of the songs dont really fit their hour especially the night to midnight tracks. was hoping they would be more.. chill
